We finally got the chance to try @rosasthai 🥳 it’s only just joined (few weeks ago) the restaurant scene in Exeter. Always like to wait for a while before I try a new place when it opens because I think only then you get a true reflection of what you really going to get! 😎 What I thought of the place: The good, the bad & the ugly 🤔 The good: The food was really tasty, nice & very well balanced flavours. We had the Veggie Platter to start, the Red Curry & Cashew Stir-Fry for mains. 👍 The bad: The rice portions where very small, I would kind of understand if they were ‘free’ as part of the main course but for £3.50 it would have been nice to get a bit more. Tried to order another portion but I had to wait 10 minutes for it, which was not that great! 🤔 The thing we disliked the most was the welcome we got (or the luck of it) when we arrived at the restaurant. The guy that was working front of the house and took us to our table barely made us feel welcome (come on buddy you are the first impression of the place try to be more welcoming and friendly!) 🤭👎 The ugly: Nothing! 🎉 Will we go back, definitely 👍 Score: 7.5/10

Wanted to try this new place, as soon as I have seen it was opening in Exeter. So went out for lunch for my husbands birthday. We both love thai food and eat it often. We had sweetcorn patties which were not too bad but on the burnt side. Som tum salad all you could taste was garlic. My husband had red duck pineapple curry, duck was awful just like rubber, could not eat it. I had stir fried flat noodles with chicken - the general taste wasnt too bad, but far from what you get in Thailand. Noodles were undercooked and hard, chicken tasted like it was reheated and it was just super hard and disgusting that i left it. We also had a drink of lemonade and a thai buble tea. Tea tasted fine but bubles were all wrong and disgusting, not chewy and bouncy just horrible. I dont think I would come back again, very disapointed with food.

Service was very slow. It took them a good strong 10+mn before anyone came to get our order. Kids menus absolutely awful 🤦🏻‍♀️ my son did not touch these noodles actually even myself I couldn't eat them. I thought he was being funny but when i tried I couldn't even chew it myself I was shocked! My son absolutely loves noodles that's all he orders when we go to an Asian restaurant ( we have done most of them in Exeter) but today was horrendous. It is absolutely ridiculous to serve noodles like these for a kids menu. Spring rolls just awful... I order myself a Tom Yom soup and prawn crakers. That was OK but not amazing. Overall quiet disappointing ( I was looking forward to it actually) as I'm foodie and travelled quiet a bit but Rosa's won't be my spot in Exeter.

We definitely enjoyed the food, and the location is super convenient for us as locals. We will definitely be back at some point. The best espresso martini that I've had in a while, also. I do have a tiny issue though.. As we walked in we were greeted promptly by the host, and our server took our order for drinks and mains. She was lovely but after bringing the food out, we never saw her again. We ended up sat at the table with empty glasses and clearly having finished our mains for 50mins without anyone serving us, despite many staff members going past the section every few minutes. I know this was towards closing time, but knowing our server had left, it felt strange to be so invisible to that many other people still working there that not one had the common sense to just stop for 30 seconds to see if we needed anything, when we were the only table in the section still only half way through our night. We ended up having to get up to get someone's attention, and I specifically said I definitely wanted to get desserts and more drinks, which would have been another £30 spend, but in 40mins no one could find the time to take the order even though we were literally sat there with menus in hand, empty plates and empty glasses, and had made a point of requesting service? Having finished my shift as front of house elsewhere for the day, when I'm a guest in someone else's establishment I'd like to think I didnt have to repeatedly try and get someone's interest, after all I'm meant to be on a night out lol not at work anymore Ultimately just boils down to if you're going to charge me, then please find the time to come and take the order aswell? If I had ordered everything I wanted, the bill would have had about £10 service charge added, but for what service? Like I said, we will definitely go back. But as it was valentine's on top of it, i decided I'd rather save the money and take my partner on a second date the next day, rather than spend a £100 in total when i was starting to feel quite irritated that we didnt seem to really exist..I dont want any special treatment, just wanna order desserts and drinks lol left feeling like our night had ended half way and we just left at closing time, table still not cleared from the mains, and no more drinks or afters and no one seemed bothered even after we'd specifically asked and sat there for an hour like that so....a bit more awareness and interest from servers next...

The true test of a restaurant is really on a hectic weekend evening. We dined with friends on a very busy Saturday night and really enjoyed the food and service. We were very hungry that day so we ordered quite a bit of food. Since it was so busy we didn't end up finishing or eating some of the extra mains we ordered as well as dessert since we waited an hour for it. It was because aside from a full house there were loads of delivery orders as well. We don't fault the restaurant since it really was so busy. The food were very good and came out fresh. For starters we recommend the crispy wings, crispy pork bites and calamari. For mains we recommend the pad thai [huge servings!] The chicken rice and the Penang curry. All the restaurant staff did their best and we could not fault them for the time we waited for our second mains and dessert as we were able to eat 2 rounds of starters and our first mains despite it being very hectic. Also their staff NORBERT stood out most to us as he was so attentive and we were impressed by how much he stayed focused despite it being so busy. He was also very honest when we ordered more mains that the tickets in the kitchen are very long and set our expectations as there might be a bit of a wait for them since that was about the 3rd time we ordered while eating that night - which pretty much showed how good the food was. We will definitely go back as the food and service was excellent, but maybe on a less...

Food nice, would have to say it is slightly overpriced, though good variety. I would have given 4 stars but had to deduct 1 for the service issue and 1 for the rather high imposed service charge, especially for a table of just 4. When I booked, the booking process leads you through well, and then asks if it is a special event. I ticked yes to special event, ticked yes to male birthday and ticked yes to female birthday (as have twins). I even added more detail around being a special milestone birthday. So I thought great, they will make an effort. No, no such thing sadly. When we arrived we were first in at 6pm. Oddly we were offered one of only two tables ?! strange as booked a while ago, got the impression we should be thankful for that. No mention of the slightest 'happy birthday' or anything remotely acknowledging. Not even a free prawn cracker with a candle on it. What is the point of asking new customers during booking if its for a special event ?????? I had travelled 100 miles to meet my family to celebrate here. So, Rosa. I removed the extortionate service charge to offset the failure to provide something memorable or complementary, and instead used that to part fund my petrol. (I did give our waitress a fair cash tip, but really you should follow through on your booking system comments. As good as the food was, I, as a first time customer left rather disappointed. And you know that means: yep, Im highly unlikely to...
