While Baked may have a nice atmosphere and decent food, the arrogant attitude and lack of care service leaves much to be desired. The staff exudes a level of arrogance, making guests feel unwelcome and unimportant. It is unacceptable to be refused service multiple times while there are clearly open tables available. And it is the attitude that gets me. You feel they don't care. The Nokia and Kodak syndrome. This kind of behavior only results in losing loyal customers and reflects poorly on the business. It's also worth noting that there are plenty of other cafes in the same area with similar offerings, better service making Baked's attitude even more off-putting. After two negative experiences. So long!
Update: exactly as I expected I get another ivory tower reply from owner without even an apology or the simple word "sorry" or even TRYING to even inviting us back, instead another arrogant lecture with a defensive attitude of how they know exactly how to buffer for busy times 30% of tables. It is just me a simple customer who can't see the bigger picture! that they are busy, I'll have to start working on my customer skills to be sophisticated enough to get the privilege of having breakfast and coffee š¤·š»āāļøš I am glad they didn't ask me for an apology for overwhelming their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a really tasty poached egg and feta toast breakfast here with gluten free bread. I was recently diagnosed with IBS and doctors have ordered me onto a 'low FODMAP' diet. Weirdly enough this means I can't have avocado. So it was a big shame that this 8.50 menu item incorporated the cost of avocado. Unfortunately, "no swaps" are allowed, so even though avocado was offered as an extra for 2.50 and bacon was 2.00 (cheaper), I couldn't swap the avocado for bacon. That is, to swap a more expensive add on for a cheaper one, it would have COST me an extra 2.00!
In the end I just paid the full 8.50 for two slices of gluten free bread (extra 20p), two poached eggs (one was overdone), plenty of feta and some low FODMAP pesto (I'm told it's just olive oil and basil).
I pressed on the no swapping and was told that it used to be allowed but due to it causing difficulty/confusion in the kitchen, they stopped allowing it.
In summary, your dietary requirements might mean you have to pay extra because the kitchen is not organised enough to accommodate you.
This would have been a 5* review, had this policy not...
Read moreUnfortunately on this occasion l was not happy with my experience. Ordered a Half Vegi Breakfast but received Half House Breakfast (regular bacon sausage etc) it did only take about 10 minutes for the waiter to bring the correct order, l paid for for mine and my partners breakfast in advance, but l had finished my coffee by then so Ordered another cup, somewhere along the line the coffee order was misplaced and 10 mins later l asked about the coffee, l received an apology and coffee came after a few minutes. The breakfast itself was potato heavy and l thought it mean that the half vegi breakfast has no toast, so it's not really even a half breakfast despite it costing £9 only £3 less than a full breakfast. On leaving l went to pay the remaining amount l owed for 1 coffee expecting that after the service we had received that as a gesture of an apology the last coffee would be on the house, unfortunately not. On a plus side my partner had the Egg Royale which was generous in portions...
