Venturing into Hove Place, newcomers might find the distinct, somewhat 'porky' aroma of the pub interior noticeable, but this feature adds to the authenticity of a venue that refuses to pretend to be anything but real. It's a nod to traditional pub culture, where the essence of hearty meals forms part of the atmosphere. This initial olfactory greeting shouldn’t deter visitors, as any uncertainties are swiftly allayed once the experience unfolds.
While cozy and traditional inside, Hove Place's true heart lies in its impressive outdoor area. Stepping into the garden, patrons are greeted by a haven that speaks the language of both comfort and tranquility. This spacious outdoor retreat, adorned with lush greenery and ample seating, is the perfect setting for any gathering, offering a slice of serenity away from the urban hustle. The menu complements the laid-back atmosphere, with an array of delectable and hearty offerings that promise satisfaction. While the beverages pay homage to the time-honored traditions of pub drinks, there’s an innovative flair evident in the seasonal specialties.
Hove Place manages to encapsulate the feeling of home for its patrons, with staff that carry the familiar warmth of long-time friends. They serve not just meals or pints, but an experience that lingers, urging you to return.

Read moreIf you are looking for a place to drink in Hove while you're only allowed to drink outside, this is the place to go. There are a couple of things that I feel needs improvement but overall I had a good time.
From the outside it looks very small and goes down into a basement which makes it all the more exciting. When you enter the beer garden, the mood has certainly been finely tuned to cater to the restrictions. There are different areas each with their own suitable needs. We got to sit over at Doc's table which was very cosy.
The drinks themselves are a better selection than you would see in most pubs with even the standard Smirnoff being the smoother black instead of red label. The drinks however have a strange mismatch of template. For example, if you order a black cow vodka with lemonade and then a smirnoff black with coke you will get different proportions of mixer. I dont know why this is, but it didnt really take much away from the drink (unless you really like mixer). Unfortunately on top of this there aren't prices on any of the drinks on the menu (except the wines). They have qr codes for ordering on each table but again, its just the same menu.
However this wasnt too much of a problem as the staff were so friendly and helpful anyway, they let us know the prices of certain drinks. The customer service is absolutely one of the shining aspects of the venue; the staff really make sure to consider the customer experience and look after you as much as they can....

Firstly, we were greeted warmly by all of the staff, I thought they might be a little jaded after the first lunch sitting, but they were all full of energy and festive cheer.
We enjoyed every single course; I loved my venison starter and the Christmas pudding dessert. We both agreed that the turkey was the best we’ve both ever eaten. Neither of us are huge turkey fans and I only eat it once a year at Christmas and generally regret it. We were served one thick slice of turkey each, in a stack with stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding, so we both anticipated to experience a mouthful of dry meat. How wrong we were; it was succulent and moist (yes I said that word).
The food came out a good pace and the service from the lovely Courtney, our waitress, was great. The ambience of the pub is perfect for Christmas so we’re definitely...
