A great evening atmosphere, a mellow and calm lit restaurant giving a nice romantic or sophisticated ambiance. Many will have social events here or a fancy post work evening meal and drinks. We had reserved and were seated promptly at a nice table by the bar. The wait staff were attentive and noticed when we beckoned them. Service was fast, there was no long wait or sense of food taking too long to arrive. Quality: Christmas cocktail noel blanco, coffee liquor and milk it seemed, it was presented very well, but lacked Christmas taste. It was more of a...glass of milk with garnish. Would recommend vanilla droplets, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and sugar mixed into an espresso shot added to it. I did request an espresso as the coffee liquire was very faint for taste. Food: 10 oz ribeye Presented well, was requested medium, slightly more pink more med rare. The steak itself was "cold" despite being recently cooked. It doesn't seem the steaks were left to rest to room temp and were cooked straight out the fridge, giving a colder internal and overall steak. Garlic butter left to melt with the steak tasted great with good marbling , I can't say excellent it's just made 4/5 for the steak as did not feel cooked or prepped to an excellent standard. Fougasse Nice soft bread brilliant to tear and share. Very light brushing of garlic butter on the top, could use more, finished with sea salt flakes. Calamari Delicate and delicious. No stringy bites, all clean. Crab Maison Served on nice sourdough bread, tasted more like tuna with a hint of crab but was still enjoyable. Our bill had two drinks added to it which were requested to be removed, a mix up on the tables which ordered them we were told. Always check your bills as some restaurants do this intentionally. Overall it is a very pleasant dining experience, great food, great atmosphere.

What a disappointment. Been in many Cote brasserie branches around in UK and let me tell you never received such a shocking service or better said no service at all. Came on Sunday afternoon to have a brunch. We and some other people been waiting by the door for a good 10 min until waiter rushed out of his feet acknowledge us. We asked if we could sit outside as it was lovely weather and been told to take a seat and someone will bring menus shortly.Sat outside with no menus for at least 15-20 minutes, until went inside to ask for a menus once again. Once received menus and ready to order it took so much effort to get waiters attention that we would be able to order our food. We used to love nice cote breakfast hence why choose to come there on Sunday afternoon, but that was wrong choice for sure. Tasteless scrambled eggs if you can even call that, mushrooms soggy and dry, probably sat on the heat lights whole morning. French toast with sloppy black mint garnish, old blueberries and mouldy raspberry on top - what lovely combination. During our brunch not even one member of the staff came over to ask how was our food or if we would like to have some more drinks as we just sat there like a ghosts seems like. Needed to go in and ask for a bill, and only been told that it's very busy and they short on staff. However inside was only 5-6 small tables and by the waiter section at least 4 members of staff including managers just chatting!! Instead of just chatting I think you should concentrate of guests service and perhaps cleaning your restaurant area.

Dear D N&P drove me over The Downs north of Brighton to lunch as their birthday guest at Côte a bright spacious welcoming venue. The floor-team were friendly confident and expert. Our table-setting was homely. The Maître d'hôtel sent me a birthday glass of Champagne .. that's nice! I chose Steak Tartare perfectly assembled and seasoned with authentic sourdough baguette sear-toasted; followed by Lamb Harissa on Ratatouille full of sunny Brighton flavours enjoyed with an elegant Hérault Chinian served at perfect temperature. A complex girlish Strawberry Elderflower Crème Brûlée brimming with caramel and more summer scents crowned the lunch. I took my Hasselblad with me but never loaded it; the lunch was too convivial to interrupt. Thanks Côte - to all behind the scenes - for my happy birthday treat. It was impeccable and fun. Thanks D for your phone call this morning .. Cheers.. Christophe

I find dining here (Brighton) very hit and miss... Generally good but still overpriced to be perfectly honest. Unfortunately tonight was again another not so great experience. The starter charcuterie was ok ... But I felt overpriced and not very well thought out with the amount it cost. 2 small pieces of french 🥖slices and a good portion of meats... However there was a slab of butter but the bread was already served with garlic butter so there was no need whatsoever for the extra butter... A small piece of cheese would of been nice... It also came with 4 very thin slices of pickled cucumber 🥒.. which was a welcomed addition but yet again not proportioned correctly to the amount of meat. This could of been so much better than what it was Main course I ordered the Hake which when it came had obviously been sitting on a hot plate and was so overdone I actually spoke to the waiting staff and complained... This is one of your expensive items which clearly hadn't been signed off correctly from the kitchen.. it's just not good enough. The waiter agreed with me but suggested that he just take the fish away and leave the rest whilst a new piece of hake is cooked... which I found really odd thing to suggest.. he then suggested to me what would I like to do??? Then he suggested maybe I'd like to order something else??? ... I said no please take it all away and I'll wait for a correctly cooked piece of fish and new vegetables. When the second one came it was cooked correctly. So quite an experience and not something you should expect when going out and paying quite a lot of money. When the Bill arrived they did take off the charcuterie which was unexpected.... But to be honest if you were taking off anything it really should of been the Hake. Anyway I just wanted to share my disappointing...

Went for a large family birthday meal (20+ people) and had a positive experience.

Pros The food - The Beef Bourguignon was delicious - tender and slow cooked as described with a rich sauce/stew - definitely the highlight of the meal by far. The Brûlée Camembert with grape chutney for starters was also tasty, but could have been a tad more runny if I'm honest. The Crème Caramel was fine, although in hindsight I might have tried the Crème Brûlée instead.

Staff were polite and attentive - not much more I can add in respect of this element. Appreciate that it was challenging to cater for such a large group.

Dealt painlessly with the allergies/intolerances of guests - there was a separate menu without the need for a very lengthy discussion and endless disclaimers, dishes for people with dietary requirements were served with little flags in them and staff had evidently been told the names of those who these dishes were to handed to. It was handled well here, however I'm still at a loss as to why other establishments struggle so much with this as it doesn't appear to be a particularly complex undertaking if the right process is implemented - dear reader, if you've concluded that my lengthy spiel here is the result of some very negative past experiences elsewhere in this regard then you'd be correct!

Decent atmosphere - didn't feel like we were crammed in like sardines and no excessive music so could actually have conversations with those around me (another thing that other restaurants frequently get wrong).

Cons Toilets left a bit to be desired on arrival and there was no handwash, however this was sorted out quickly when it was pointed out.

Overall a solid 4 stars - would definitely consider visiting one of the other branches closer to...
