Too many waiting staff, we ended up dealing with about 8 people, who do you tip? The one who tried taking the next table's starter, mid bite of meatball, one left, and swooped in, are you finished?? NO, he's literally eating. Then he headed to our table and before I knew it, he'd picked the wine bottle up, we'd just been seated and given food, and straight in there, so I got a little possessive, and grabbed it before he could take it out fully. Then he went on break, then took pics of a party, celebrating something...
My friend had langoustines, and was really disappointed, he was in two minds, those or gambas.. both sounded lush. They were butterflied and the meat on them was pitiful. Ended up ordering the 2 extra gambas, and there was more meat on those two tiger prawns than seemed to be on about 8-10 langoustine. And they looked as if they'd been in a battle! And.. i LOVE garlic, but there was so much... I'm talking at least a bulb, sliced, and the langoustine sat on top. I've never seem so many staff in any restaurant, and only two stood out for the right reasons. There was a black man, who was running round with a smile, attending to any extras the tables might order, and a lady with light-dark skin, and light eyes, with wavy hair. Smiles, not a distant, faraway look when talking, the one who brought our wine, mind off with the fairies. I had Wolf fish. THAT, was delicious. And if we'd had the gambas and not the langoustine, it could have been a really pleasant night out. Constantly having to watch for that ine waiter, who was DETERMINED to clear tables while we're still eating and no one needs those tables... ambience.. slightly below panicky.
Mine was reasonably priced, never heard of it before, but it was cooked to perfection. And the prices were very reasonable, makes me wonder how they afford all those staff! My daughter would FAINT if management gave her that amount of staff to play with on a Saturday night, hell, for a month!
We may go back, as it wasn't bad, just defending your wine and food kind of spoils the aim of going out. Relaxing. If you know who that over enthusiastic, table clearer, maybe have a word, that if a customer has a meatball on their fork, on its way to their mouth, and one more in the little terracotta dish, left to eat they are...
Read moreTried El Pescador this evening, on strong recommendation. My wife had been several times before, but I had never been. Within minutes of being there, I had already decided that El Pescador was my new favourite restaurant in Swansea, one of my favourites in Britain and even in my top 5 Tapas restaurants, in Europe. The staff were super friendly, the atmosphere was fantastic and the food was fantastic. The selection of seafood was amazing and with so much locally sourced fish and produce available, I was very impressed. We had planned on having a starter, main and desert, but after studying the menu, we decided to order 10 different dishes on the menu, as tapas, to sample as much as possible. Each and every dish was out of this world. There were no dishes that made me think ‘I wish I hadn’t ordered this’. Also, our deserts were absolutely amazing. The desert chef really knows what people want. I’ve never had a cheese cake like it. My wife also enjoyed the Mahon gin and the way the Gins were served, with actual juniper berries and different herb garnishes. Amazing. I felt like I was having dinner in Menorca. Especially as from our table, we could see the yachts and fishing boats in the marina. Lastly, the bill came to half the price, that I expected, certainly a lot cheaper than other Swansea restaurants, for superior food. Next visit, we will try all the dishes that we didn’t try on this occasion. We can’t wait to go back. Definitely one of the best restaurants around. Strongly recommend to any seafood, steak, tapas lovers. My only regret, and it’s not a complaint, I didn’t get to try the oysters. Oh well.. A reason to get...
Read moreArrived at 6 30pm, despite booking a week ahead, was only time available. Was really looking forward to this restaurant and was another reason we booked a week's holiday apartment in the area. We arrived on time, just 4 of us,, ushered to a table and then no one came anyone near us for over half an hour, Had to get a waiter's attention to take our drinks order. 7.10ish drinks arrived. 7.40, again tried to summon attention of waiter who took our meal orders, staters arrived about half hour later. All lovely. We waited another 30 mins for our mains, we all ordered from the set menu so nothing that deserved the long delays. Main meals were OK for 3 of us but beef fillet medallion were served cold and almost raw. I did ask for pink, but they had been so lightly cooked they were still cold! I could not eat it so sent it back, waiter then questioned me about my understanding of 'pink' my issue was that it was cold and practicallly raw. They returned with edible beef eventually with an additional complimentary patas dish. By this stage we had been there long enough but kids really wanted dessert, as they had been looking forward to trying the churros. Again had to get attention of a waiter by walking around to find one. Ordered 2 churros for the children. We waited and waited until 9.20pm at this point again. Had to walk around to find a waiter to chase up our dessert order. They offered not to charge us for for the 2 desserts due to the delay which they acknowledged and was appreciated. We arrived at 6.30pm by the time we finished and paid it was 9.45pm, over 3 hours !! Service was not good, very...
