Prebook in advance to avoid disappointment! I booked this for our anniversary meal. Despite turning up on time we had to queue outside for at least 25 minutes with several others waiting for people to finish their meals. Once inside the waiter was super apologetic, and you could tell he needed a drink himself. The restaurant was very cosy with interesting pieces of art on the walls. A nice very traditional feel about the place. Anyway the starters consisted of various seafood and meat dishes to which you can size up as a main on average pricing of £7 to £15. I had the pork cheeks and himself the clam spaghetti. While we waited we were presented with canapés consisting of cheese and carmalised onions..the other truffle oil on crackers. These were a very tasty treat. The spaghetti was well made and the sauce light smothering the tiny clams. My pork cheek was super tender, and it lay perched on perfect mash, panchetta, black pudding, pickled onions in a tomato broth. Various bits of bread was also served to mop up this juice. Only criticism clam meat is sooo small in this country so not worth the battle against the shells for such a tiny reward. For mains I had the seafood special which was a bowl filled with mussels, clams, scallop, king prawns and longuistines swimming in a broth and fresh pasta. This was super tasty, cooked to perfection and presented nicely. My only gripe was I only had one at most two scallops. My other half chose the lamb which again was super tender, in a homely bed of mash, sauce and root vegetables. Super simple dish but everything was cooked perfectly. I was feeling quite full but the orange panacotta with orange sorbet was too tasty to miss. It didn't disappoint. Overall despite the disappointing beginning the service was impeccable and food really tasty. However I did expect a bit more in terms of creativity considering this was a Michelin star restaurant. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy your seafood especially.

Booked in advance, when we arrived, not felt welcomed, most of the waiters/waitress were stern faced. When placing the orders, some of the ladies would like two starters instead of a main, thus we ended up having 4 mains for a table of 7. The waiter counted and told us abruptly that we need to order more mains, everyone must have a main! When questioned why, he just said that was how it works, not bothering further explanation. We had to add two more mains, which is still one short of 7. After some stalemate, we pointed out that we have much more starters than usual, he then reluctantly agreed to check with the kitchen, which replied quickly that it was OK. We didn’t finish the extra mains, as the ladies did not want to cancel the starters. When we started leaving the restaurant, all the staff just looked on, no one bothered to address us. I had to turn around and meet their eyes, still NO thanks, NO goodbyes. What a manner! What an attitude! It only got my 2 stars because of the chef. The kitchen deserves 5 stars. Excellent cooking. Let down by the terrible and rude service.

This was an amazing find, from the second we walked in the door the staff made us and our dog feel welcomed, the table settings were lovely and decor of the restaurant nice on the eyes and very fitting. The food was absolutely incredible from start to finish, we even got a free complimentary appetiser and a little chocolate truffle with our bill at the end I went off the specials menu and got the lobster and langoustine bisque followed by the Turbot which was served with mushrooms and gnocchi My partner got the scallops starter and the venison bourguignon for a main. The presentation and flavours were on point and We were both extremely satisfied, we will definitely be going back the next time we visit

We wandered here as we didn't know most of the restaurants shut on a Wednesday.

What a blessing in disguise, thankfully we popped in early. Staff offered us a table despite us not having a reservation.

Whilst throughout the evening, they were turning customers away.

There were only two staff members working and the female staff was so polite and friendly.

We ordered the salmon, mussels and scallops for our starters.

For our main, we ordered the mushroom pasta from the specials menu, the pork dish and the turbot fish dish.

Everything exceeded our expectations.

The only reason why I held back one star was, my main was on the tiny portion side and tables were compacted and right next to one another.

We absolutely loved the complimentary starter and chocolate truffles at the end. The mussels cooked with curry and coconut was very flavoursome too. Scallops didn't seem too fresh, salmon starter was pretty but nothing too special.

Would definitely return again one day to try their dessert, we were too stuffed for much else.

Any reason for not a full set of stars is, I believe its not a step free access restaurant as there were stairs leading up to...

Wonderful! By far the best place we ate in Windermere and some of the best french food I've had anywhere. Lovely little restaurant pleasant atmosphere and ideal for couples. Called to book a table and was told they were fully booked for next few days, but there was one booking free in the week on Tuesday so I took it. They texted me on the day to confirm I was still coming. We arrived just before time and were shown to our table. The staff were all so pleasant and professional. Took our drink orders and gave us time to look at the menu. I ordered the escargot for starters and the days special of turbot. Both delicious and the best ive had anywhere. Type of food you want to lick the plate clean or maybe just order more 🤤. Also had the sticky toffee pudding and the pear dessert both again delicious and I wasn't a sticky toffee pudding fan but I am now. All the staff were so attentive, we were given canapés before starter came out and truffles at the end of the meal. Felt like we were fully taken care of and I wish every place we ate had standards like this. Bravo 👏 and thank you for the...
