As a member of the Nepalese community living in Glasgow for past 17 years; one thing we always look out for is Momo ! Nepalese have a remarkable relationship with Momo ! It isn't just food; it is a way of life... it is deep rooted in our culture and it is what brings us together as a community!
So when u find a restaurant that does not 1 not 2 but 7 types of Momo ; you have struck gold !
We went for dinner and it was so easy to find being right inside Merchant Square.. Lovely ambience and smiling faces ready to greet you at the door. We tried 3 types of Momo: Jhol Momo, Steamed Momo and Fried Momo. I must say Jhol Momo was my favourite as that is how it is most widely consumed in Nepal within homes and at restaurants. But the two dips (achars) that come with the steamed version were also top notch ! Did take me back to my childhood years in Nepal...
The chicken sekuwa was more like chicken tikka... not exactly the sekuwa u get back home. But nevertheless I enjoyed it ! No mains for us this time but that's the thing about Momo - it's a starter and a main for us most times.
Also tried a Mango Lassi and a cocktail...
Lastly there was a lot to choose from the dessert menu and we went for the Chocolate Gateau Cake and it was fabulous to say the least ! Very Chocolatey and indulgent !
There's a lot on the menu including your usual Indian classics and I will definitely be visiting soon.
But if u r looking for a taste of Nepal right here in Glasgow then don't miss...
Read moreWent to Momo Hub Mother Nepal as a group of 8 people in search of authentic Indo-Chinese-Nepali flavoured cuisine and the place did not disappoint. Loved every thing about the place.
We ordered sizzler chicken and vegetarian momos, chilli chicken and lamb chhoila as starters - each one of the dishes was lip-smackingly delicious. We also ordered a few rounds of drinks.
In the main course, we had Chicken fried rice, Mixed fried rice, Chicken Manchurian and also a Biryani. Again, all the dishes were very well made but the top spot was definitely taken by the Chicken Fried Rice which felt like a proper Indo-Chinese dish which one gets in India.
The over all vibe and ambience of the place was warm and welcoming. All the staff was friendly and polite. Towards the end of the meal, we also had a chance to meet the owner of the place who was very humble and gracious.
The cherry on top of the delicious food and the lovely service was final bill amount which was much lesser than what we had imagined, considering the amount of food and drinks we ordered. If the prices remain the same, then this could definitely become a weekly eat out place.
I highly recommend this place if you're craving Indo-Chinese-Nepali cuisine. Definitely going to...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant and had an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and welcoming—perfectly lit with a cozy yet classy atmosphere that made us feel right at home.
The staff truly stood out for their friendliness and attentiveness. They greeted us with genuine smiles, guided us through the menu, and made sure we were comfortable throughout our visit. Their service added a personal touch that made the meal even more enjoyable.
We ordered the chilly chicken, chicken fried rice, and a mixed platter, and every dish exceeded our expectations. The chilly chicken was perfectly cooked with just the right balance of spice and flavor, making it a definite standout. The chicken fried rice was fragrant, well-seasoned, and packed with fresh ingredients. The mixed platter was a feast in itself—an exciting variety of items, each delicious in its own way.
The portion sizes were generous, and everything was served hot and fresh. You can tell that the kitchen puts care into every dish. It’s rare to find a place that combines great food, a lovely ambiance, and genuinely kind staff, but this restaurant nails it on all fronts.
Highly recommended! Will definitely be coming...
