I don't care what the other reviews say, this place was abysmal on multiple levels. We were sat at our table with high hopes. When we started the ordering, that's when the plethora of disappointment commenced. Every dish we seemed to ask for they told us they did not have - it was only 7pm, how could they have possibly ran out of so much on a weekend service? Their employee in charge of ordering supplies clearly needs some training. When we eventually managed to order food that was in stock, well... awful. The starter we ordered was not what was served. Upon challenging the staff on this, we were met with defiance, unwilling to listen to our explanation and was met with blame on us, not understanding the menu. We tried to explain that a plate of lettuce leaves and slightly warmed cheese did not equate to a mixed starter, however more hostility was fired at us. My partner had a lamb kofta dish that was bland, dry and cold. I ordered one of the most expensive items on the menu - monkfish tandoori. I was assured the monkfish was fresh, however it was over cooked, had the texture of cotton wool and had no flavour, it definitely gave the impression that it was frozen - despite their denial. To top the dire experience off, when we came to pay (despite our better judgement, we just wanted to get out and end the terrible ordeal - i just walked out, my partner was the one willing to pay something), the bill was wrong! They had double charged us for drinks and rather than talking about it, they just keep pointing at the receipt stating that was what we owed - a bill coming to an outrageous £115. Never again KoolBa. Terrible food. Terrible service. Terrible experience. I rarely complain about anything and never feel compelled to leave a review. Shame...
Read moreThis is a stunningly good restaurant we go to regularly & where you're never disappointed. It's an Indian restaurant that's Persian in style, foods cooked in olive oil so they're lighter & non greasy.
Service is efficient but genuinely friendly in a good relaxing atmosphere & excellent quality food & drink. We had a private booth.
The pakora are the best we've ever had & all the dishes done with such care. Needing something light I had a chicken kebab with salads & rice. The chicken was grilled til tender & subtly spiced. My husband had lamb karahi, beautifully tender meat & very well spiced with rice & their crispy naan.
There's a good choice of wines & beers & cocktails - we had margaritas perfectly made in the traditional way.
There was no room for dessert but if as good as the rest of the choices they must be worth a try!
Portions are generous & naan is crispy & light. You can chose pre theatre or go a la carte - we had two full courses each, wine & cocktails & with tip it came to £80. For such a meal that's cheap at the price! If you wanted to keep costs down, go for pre theatre, beers & no cocktails & you can eat very well for a very reasonable cost.
Very highly...

The Pandemic changed everything, for so many of us. Not least for the hospitality industry, and those of us that they serve. With the 'New Normal', when management and I ventured out again, it seemed a perfect to time to try new restaurants, new hotels, new experiences. And then it seemed like time to go back to some old favourites.
Well, it was brilliant to be back at Koolba again. What did we have? Chicken pakora (perfectly cooked; thin, crispy batter) and Chicken Olivieh (a mystery just how such a simple sounding dish is so delicious).Main courses of the Royal Kebab (fresh, succulent, delicious) and Nantara Chicken Tikka with Prawns (rich, complex, sauce just outstanding). And the lightest nans in Glasgow to go with it. And the service - you always wonder when you haven't been back for a while? Warm, friendly, efficient; nothing had changed.
Does it make any sense to say how refreshing it is to go back to old favourites? Well it was. Very Kool, Koolba. We won't leave it so long to...
