This place has HK owners and so is very authentic. Great food, good portion sizes, cheapest place to get salted 7up in Cardiff (highly recommend if anyone hasn’t tried it yet). I think the small menu also benefits the place.
For people with dietary requirements however: I didn’t see any dishes that appeared celiac/gluten-free friendly on first glance. I was not asked about any allergies/ intolerances I had upon arrival. I did not see vegan options.
This section isn’t related to the food or my experience but is my opinion on the business itself as an entrepreneurship student:
At this point it’s only been open a week but I think they need to offer a better table layout. They should also invest in bar-style seating against the window, as the current max seat number is only around 10 - having such a low number of customers per hour will be difficult for the business and I’m certain they need to increase sales.
They also should offer student discount and takeaway drinks to benefit from local students - the authentic milk tea will always be popular and salted 7Up is rare currently (both should be marketed).
They should also investigate into marketing partnerships with Yutai in Cardiff SU.
Cheers, hope the business thrives.
Edit: I ate here again and unfortunately the noodle dish I ordered appeared to have been made previously and left on the plate, so they had started to become hard and stayed in the circular pattern on the plate after I moved them. I tried the matcha chocolate bun for the first time though and this was very good - still recommend the authentic drinks and bakery items. Partner said they didn’t think their meal...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing, I’ve never written a review before but this I had no choice but to. The food here was incredible!! Me and my partner had the curry fish balls to start (we ordered another portion after as they were so tasty) the for main we had the prawn and pork wonton soup and the imitation shark fin soup, both were really nice but the broth for the wonton soup was unrivalled, especially with the chilli oil added on top. Then for desert we were presently surprised with team at north point handing us a sweet Bolo bao with butter on the house, we would have never thought to order this but omg was it amazing, we both can’t stop thinking about it! Then last of all we order the Hong Kong style toast with hazelnut chocolate sauce, this was melt in your mouth delicious. All of which came to the cost of £40, so much value for money! The staff we all so friendly too with very fast service, could not...
Read moreThis is far most best Hong Kong Style restaurant in Cardiff or even south west of UK. Buns freshly made everyday is one of the best Hong Kong style buns around the area. So authentic and it tastes exactly the same as the bakeries in Hong Kong. Be sure to try Bolo Bao with fried pork chop. This could sound like a strange combination but surprisingly matchy:) Fishball Hofan and beef brisket noodles are outstanding as well. I like it especially now you can choose to add with their signature curry sauce to enhance the flavour. If you are a fan of Wonton, be sure to tryout Wonton noodles and carefully taste the soup base. You will be surprised! Definitely a place for homesick Hongkonger, and this is already a must visit place for me when I crave...
