Terrible Experience – Avoid at All Costs!
If I could give Raj Kitchen zero stars, I would. We had a reservation for 8:45 PM for our friend’s birthday, expecting a smooth evening, but what we got instead was a complete disaster.
Despite placing a simple order—just two types of curries and naan—the staff made us wait over an hour and a half. Every time we asked about our food, they brushed us off, saying it would be “just 2-3 more minutes,” but nothing arrived. Meanwhile, we noticed that other customers who arrived long after us were getting served before us, which was incredibly frustrating.
When the food finally arrived after 10:30 PM, one of our friends got the wrong meal, but at that point, he was too hungry to complain. To make matters worse, the food was awful—one curry was watery, and the chicken in the other was rubbery and unpleasant to eat.
At the end of the meal, when they asked for feedback, we were honest about our disappointment with both the wait time and the quality of the food. We politely asked if they would offer any form of compensation, but instead of handling the situation professionally, they became aggressive. One of the waiters even swore at us, and when one of our friends swore back in frustration, the owner himself lost control. He became physically aggressive, had to be held back by his own employees, and even threatened to call the police—despite the fact that we had done nothing wrong.
Shockingly, the owner himself admitted that he “treats his customers like hell,” and kept shouting at us, insisting we weren’t even his customers. Even when we clarified that we were, in fact, paying, they refused to listen and continued arguing. Other customers in the restaurant backed us up, agreeing that the way we were treated was completely unacceptable.
To make matters worse, we have videos clearly showing the owner escalating the situation and becoming physically aggressive with us for absolutely no reason. We have chosen not to attach them here because, despite our terrible experience, we do not want to tarnish his reputation further. However, it’s important for others to know what kind of behavior to expect from this place.
This place is an absolute joke—horrible service, inedible food, and an owner who seems to think verbally abusing and threatening customers is normal behavior. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place unless you want to be treated...
Read moreA good review, in my opinion, is not just about the food, service, or ambiance—it’s about the feel-good factor. Sometimes, even when things aren’t perfect, a place can leave you with a warm, positive impression. Other times, everything might seem fine on the surface, yet something feels amiss. Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant in Swansea fell into the latter category.
On a fine evening, my friends and I—visiting Swansea for the first time—decided to dine at a well-reviewed restaurant. Our excitement, however, quickly turned into disappointment. From the moment we walked in, I couldn’t shake the feeling of being judged for my appearance. I brushed it off at first, but as the evening unfolded, my instincts proved right.
We started with a plate of vegetable samosas and Amritsari macchi. Before even tasting them, I realized the portions might be too small, so I ordered another serving of the fish. The starters were decent but unremarkable. Our main courses—garlic naan, tarka dal, channa, plain rice, and vegetable tandoori shashlik—were delightful, and I’d gladly have them again. Still feeling hungry, I ordered a tandoori chicken, which arrived looking promising but was disappointingly undercooked. Seeing the pink center, I couldn’t bring myself to finish it.
Despite this, I chose not to complain. However, the final interaction at the till left me disheartened. When asked if everything was okay, I gave an honest yet polite response about the overly floured fish and the undercooked chicken. Instead of acknowledging the feedback, the staff member smirked and remarked, “Even then, you ordered two portions of fish.” The comment was dismissive, turning what could have been a redeemable experience into one of regret.
Driving an hour and a half to get there, I had expected a memorable meal, but what lingered instead was the feeling of being unwelcome. It’s not just the food that defines a place—it’s how you’re...
Read moreWe visited as a group of 7 (5 were eating) and were initially told the wait would be 40-60 minutes, which we were fine with. This is after being stood at the door for over 5 minutes before being seated. After sitting down, it took another 5 minutes to receive menus. Once we were ready to order, the waiter promised to return in a couple of minutes, but it took around 10 minutes for him to come back, though he did apologise.
We ordered drinks, but there was no bottled still water available (only told after ordering) so two of us had to settle for tap water. One drink was forgotten, and we had to ask for it again. The food arrived quicker than expected, but it was the wrong order, we were told our correct meals would be out in a few minutes, which turned out to be true. The food itself was fresh and delicious, except for the naan bread, which was lukewarm at best. Unfortunately, the chicken tikka masala was missing, and we had to remind the waiter. When it eventually arrived, it was the wrong dish (just chicken tikka). Despite confirming our order multiple times, the waiter insisted we had asked for it dry, which we hadn’t.
Adding to the disappointment, the music in the restaurant was far too loud, making it difficult to have a conversation and really detracting from the overall ambiance.
Throughout the meal, no one checked if we needed anything or offered to refill our drinks, which should be standard service. After finishing, we had to wait over 15 minutes after signalling for the bill, even though we were one of the last tables. It felt like we were begging to pay. The manager did remove the incorrect dish from the bill but was dismissive of our feedback and made excuses instead of addressing our concerns.
The food was outstanding—some of the best Indian cuisine we’ve had—but the service and atmosphere were severely disappointing. 2/5 stars, as the poor service overshadowed the...
