The Broker Freehouse — Restaurant in Great Britain

Very disappointed by how we were treated.

My friends and I visited The Broker for a quiet birthday evening — seven of us, all respectful and calm. Most of the group had drinks, and we came to enjoy the live music that was advertised. I was approached by a staff member (Elaine) and told I couldn’t sit there unless I had a drink in front of me. I said I wasn’t thirsty, but I’d be happy to get a glass of water to comply.

When I asked for tap water at the bar, I was told I could only buy bottled water — even though I had been told by the same staff member that a glass of water would be fine. I politely declined and returned to my table.

Moments later, Elaine returned and told me I had to leave. When I asked why, she said “this isn’t a library” and insisted I couldn’t sit there without buying something. I explained again I wasn’t being difficult, and I was with paying customers. We were then all asked to leave — despite being respectful and quiet the whole time.

Oddly enough, our group was then refunded for drinks that had already been mostly consumed — which made no sense if the issue was money or “sitting for free.” The entire situation felt like an overreaction, and quite honestly, like we were being profiled for being a younger group.

I’ve never been treated like this in any other pub — and I’ll never return. If you’re a young person just trying to have a chilled night with your mates, I’d recommend going somewhere...

Bad atomosphere backward bar staff don't get me wrong the 1970s we're a great time to live but this worm hole in time manages to keep that era real.....never been to the blue oyster in police academy but on walking In I half expected the famous de de de de de de tune to play not that I would have minded that but it was clear that only having 5 fingers in this pub was not the required amount. I won't be going back when I spend my hard earned its normally in half decent establishments got caught short so went in for one never again...manners cost nothing don't know if it's a private or brewery owned pub but after that experience it becomes clear how so many pubs...

Best Lee the Boca pub the owner name Elaine she was Dad's good with people bestley special customers her regular cover customers always noise dogs always loud being a garden dogs allowed in the garden and she's really good in the pub I give her 100 stars because they pub always have the nice beers we liked and she's there this is a nice pub to go to so people around in the fans or people around roundly go to the pub at the broker because his nice it's people I do have a band there sometime so is a good pub so yeah have a nice time if you go to this pub it's a perfect...
