The Park — Restaurant in Great Britain

Staying down for work in Weymouth so went to “The Park” for the first time & last.

Apart from the real nice chap who served up my food & admittedly the food was fairly good, I was not impressed with the cold unfriendly service from the bar staff.

The man & woman behind the bar were not at all welcoming to a new customer. I paid for my food & asked for a till receipt so the bar woman gave me the debit card receipt. I asked her politely for a till receipt & she was blatently rude to me as if that was a real effort.

She was puffing away on her vape behind the bar too which I thought was bang out of order as well as unhygienic.

This is the worst experience I have had as a paying customer in a pub / eating house for as long as I can remember.

If I had to rate this place out of 10 it would be in the minus figures but regretfully I have had to leave 1 star otherwise this...

This is a superb traditional pub. Recently refurbished and classy in appearance. Lots of resonably priced ales and cider. The owners Mike and Rona are lovely welcoming hosts and their daughter Shell is the chef. The menu has a mixture of traditional pub grub and delicious home recipe curries and stews. During the daytime it is full of local banter and on some evenings they have music or karaoke. The sun-trap garden is a 'must see'! All the tables are painted in bright summer colours and there is a suberb 'Caribbean Island' mural painted on the surrounding walls. Lots of flowers too. I highly recommend giving the Park a visit....

Good food and friendly staff. The pub quiz on Thursday is good fun too!

However, don't get involved with the 'Pirate' draw.

"Fate" and the MC are firmly on the regulars' side. A regular complained that my friend's second draw ticket had already been drawn. The MC made no effort to check and by the time my friend got back to our table to confirm that it hadn't (it was 181 and the first was 183), another ticket had been drawn; amazingly it was one of the complainant's numbers. She then went on to win the £500 prize. Shock, horror!

Save your money and just leave them to fund...
