As the 2020 Olympics have taken over the tele, it felt right to celebrate Great Britain’s hopeful success in style with our own Japanese feast - from the comfort of Cardiff! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🇯🇵

Our meal at YukiYan was incredible, every dish was full of flavour, vibrant with colour and the portion sizes had us rolling home with happy full bellies.

On the table we had: California roll sushi; my all time fave sushi! Can’t get enough of Japanese Mayo!

Teriyaki chicken served with fresh salad, a bowl of miso soup and served with a Japanese tartar sauce. It really works!

Tako Yaki; fluffy deep fried octopus balls served with Japanese mayo and dancing bonito flakes.

Katsu Don; breaded pork served on a bed of sticky rice, laced with egg, leeks and mushrooms in a sweet rich sauce.

Sapporo Ramen with minced pork, chargrilled pork loin, mushrooms, bean sprouts, egg and sweetcorn in a creamy broth. Topped with a cheeky knob of butter which made the dish so rich and delicious !

If you are a lover of Japanese food or want to start exploring new cuisines, YukiYan is the place to go! Located on woodville Road opposite the Irie Shack. Gorgeous decor with lots of Japanese art and really lovely staff who are willing to help you through the menu!

Remarkable Japanese restaurant! If you love Sashimi and Sushi, then Yukiyan is the best place you can find in Cardiff. I have been to so many other places in town and nothing quite the same quality as this restaurant, and I went here nearly every month. The raw fish was always fresh, which made you feel safe to eat, and you'll know it was handled by a professional chef just by looking at how it was cut. My favourites are 1) Sashimi Shuriken, which is 7 types of raw fish - salmon, tuna, squid, octopus, shrimp, surf clam, and fish roe, 2) Prawn Tempura - a proper one - if you have ever tasted the original one in Japan, you'll know it's way more than just a prawn in batter. 3) Yukiyan Roll - sushi rolled with avocado and cucumber, topped with salmon, eel and cheese 4) Rainbow Maki - sushi rolled with avocado and cucumber, topped with salmon, tuna, squid, prawn and tobbiko 5) Chigen Nabe Yaki Udon - kimchi hotpot noodles with seafood, vegetables, egg and prawn tempura on top. 6) Tonkotsu Ramen and, tbh many more. I don't know how there can be bad reviews for this restaurant because it is literary my favorite place to eat in Cardiff! I have so many nice things to say about this restaurant. First of all, the staff are so nice and accommodating. Secondly, the atmosphere is so cozy and relaxing... its my comfort place to go when I've had a bad day. From the lighting to the decorations to choice of music. Third, the food is fantastic. I always order the Katsu Don and it's become my favorite food. Their miso soup always comes on the side and its so tasty too! The portions are so generous and the chicken is always cooked to perfection. Even when I order something else to switch it up (like some sushi dishes or udon) the flavors are always amazing and the presentation is just as beautiful. They also have a good selection of drinks! The only thing I would change is possibly adding in some new dessert options every once...
