This was our first experience in a Chinese restaurant and it was alright. As we weren't familiar with the menu, we decided to go for set dinner for 2 (see photos attached for both the menu and photo of food). It has started with a soup that though was tasty, it felt a bit too fat for what we are used to. While we were eating it, we got ribs brought in which cam with really tasty sauce. The ribs were normal but the sauce (as well as sauces with other food) was really tasty. For the main we had egg fried rice with selection of chicken, beef and pork. The rice was really tasty and the meats went well with it but both beef and pork were a bit fattier than we prefer. At the end we had Chinese tea which I believe was some sort of white tea. We have also ordered wine which was fairly good. In summary, if you know what you would like to eat, you shouldn't be dissapoointed but I wouldn't recommend coming in blind.

The best sit-down Chinese I've been to. Consistently good food and the owner is lovely. Price is very very reasonable for the amount of food you get. I drive 40 mins to get here! The chilli beef from the traditional menu is amazing. Pros: • Choose your own seat and items from the menu on a notepad - can't be wrong then! • The owner is friendly and so are the staff • All of the food we've had so far has been amazing. Large, very generous portions and steaming hot. Consistently good taste. • Always a place to sit and can accommodate slightly larger groups too. (Maybe let them know in advance?) • Food comes relatively fast as it's usually fairly quiet, but even when at peak times it's still comes quickly Cons: • Parking is a tiny bit awkward if you come from elsewhere but there are a few pay and display ones around. • Not really a con but always fairly quiet, sometimes we are the only ones there.

We come to Rivers regularly and have never been disappointed. The service is great and the food is amazing. Regardless of what we order its always good quality and a good portion, seasoned well and very satisfying. Today we had chicken in plum and chilli sauce, as well as beef flank soup with rice noodles. The menu is large enough that anyone will find something that suits them. Come on an empty stomach as you will definitely leave full.

Before I start, I'm not a picky person in restaurants, I'm not one to leave over the top reviews picking for no reason but if i could give 0 star I would. We got a set menu for 4 people, they gave us the wrong thing with 2 extra dishes we asked them what they were, they had no idea what they were. The waitress disappeared in the back and said there wasn't enough meat in the dishes we'd ordered so they gave us 2 random dishes. Weird but sounded okay. The food was sloppy, not very nice and one of the people spat the food out.

The table nearest to us got up and left without paying just after their mains had come out and honestly I wish we'd have done the same. The service was so so poor. The language barrier had something to do with it but that's not an excuse for poor service. We ordered our drinks and asked for tap water for the table. The drinks came but the tap water didn't. I asked again for the tap water and he brought one glass. We had the duck for starters and the waiter just brought a whole duck to the table and made a gesture like he was presenting it to us and then walked away. Didn't shred it like they did for the other tables. Didn't replace cutlery or napkins when taking it away with each course. Couldn't get the attention of any of the staff.

This has to be the worst Chinese I've ever had. Will never go back. Shocking service, bad food and when we complained they said they aren't accepting our complaint and were rude until we left. We paid the £100 bill and left. Not one member of staff said thanks or bye because they can't take constructive...

I had the most terrific/embarrassing experience today at Rivers about 4:15pm. Little wonder it's not a top rated restaurant here. The Chinese girl putting on a white shirt was very rude and uncourteous. I walked in to eat and had gone with an energy drink I got for my work later this evening. She walked up to me to say that I wasn't supposed to come in with a drink. I tried to explain to her that it's an energy drink and I wasn't going to open it and I couldn't have discarded the drink before coming in (note the energy drink wasn't open). To my dismay, her countenance changed. She shrugged and told me that she wasn't going to serve me and left me dejected, feeling humiliated and treated less like a human. I asked myself, what kind of effrontery and if I am being treated like this because I'm a blackman. I walked up to her, and her colleague, who was much older was kind enough to listen to me tried to let me sit to be served but this anger filled and uncourteous waiter insisted she wasn't going to serve me and that I was shouting at her ( for demanding her reasons for not taking my order). It is really sad and I've learnt the hard way which has left me traumatised by this kind of bad service. There is no sense of customer...

Me and one of my friend visited rivers 2 weeks before I really had very bad experience their which I feel like sharing; that day we ordered food and it was a bit spicy, so we ordered a fresh juice and they said "there is no fresh juice", but when the next person who came to after a few seconds, there was fresh juice for them. And the employees were so rude to us. We felt really disrespectful and disgusting, I prefer to eat somewhere else next time.

I am writing it really short, I'm just to sharing an awful experience which I have never faced from anywhere else.

Reply: ( I didn't have any other way to reply to you so I'm just editing my comment), I was just sharing my experience in there and I can clearly say that staff were really rude, it was an awful experience there. And I dont care if you are justifying your behaviour by saying the excuse about Increase in your sale. The actual thing happend there was first we ordered an orange juice and they said they don't have an orange juice so we asked apple they said they don't have it neither and when we asked which one do you have the staff said" there is no fresh juice". And for the next person there was!!

please treat...
