Located in close proximity to the universities, as well as Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College, Mahmoods has become a popular choice among students for fast food. I recommend planning your visit either before or after the school rush, as around 3 PM during term-time is when the restaurant can become quite busy and loud with schoolchildren.
Personally, I'm a loyal fan of Mahmoods and always opt for the quarter pounder cheeseburger meal for takeout. Despite the common complaint about the burgers being perceived as too small by many, I find the size to be just perfect. Notably, Mahmoods offers specific promotions on designated days, such as Tuesdays, when you can 'go large' at no extra cost, receiving a meal with large fries and a large drink. On a positive note, I appreciate Mahmoods' principled decision to discontinue selling products from companies supporting or building factories in illegal Israeli settlements on stolen Palestinian land, including The Coca-Cola Company and PepsiCo. There are still plenty of alternative soft drink options available.
While the food quality remains consistently good, my recent dining experience left much to be desired. During a visit with a friend, we ordered the quarter pounder cheeseburger meals and chose to dine in quickly before returning to university. Unfortunately, this proved to be my first and last time dining in Mahmoods. The food met expectations, but the seating area was disappointingly dirty, with fries scattered about. While I understand the high traffic from Sixth Form students, prompt cleaning by the staff once the students depart would greatly enhance the dining environment. The restroom added to the unpleasant experience, as it was in a deplorable state, prompting us to quickly leave and use the facilities at the University of Leeds. Consequently, I cannot recommend dining in the establishment, even though the takeout option remains a convenient, affordable, and...
Read moreI was really looking forward to eating from Mahmood after watching Halal Guy on youtube, me and my son decided to go for a day out to Leeds, we ordered The triple burger and Chicken fillet burgers (The gentleman who served us was friendly and pleasant, Thank you for your service you deserve 5 star). Unfortunately for the food: Ordered The Big Dripper and I nearly ordered the crispy Chicken Burger (sounds big and Crispy very misleading), not big and not crispy , simply due to the fact that the burger was a small burger bun and the 3 small meat pate piled on a top of each and I am so happy I asked the gentleman at the counter what is the difference between Crispy chicken burger and the fillet and he was honest by saying the crispy is not a fillet rather the processed chicken meat (left overs made into a circular shaped burger) I can only say awful. Burger meat appears to be the cheap frozen burgers you get at any local takeaway shops (Cheap and nasty), The burger was salty, greasy and tasted rank the cheeps cold but not bad, no way Mahmood Leeds you are near any of your competition and if you trying to be at MCDo level, you need to run as fast as you can from earth to the moon you might catch up, you are simply the low grade takeaway. No halal Certification nor food hygiene rating displayed (Used the toilet to wash my hand before eating, not...

Alright, so I ordered a feast from Uber Eats last night and it cost me a whopping £40. I even had to order twice because I forgot something the first time around. Ouch for my wallet, right?
First up, the Big Dripper burgers. They were amazing, like a hug for your taste buds. The fries, though? Way too salty. It felt like I was eating a salt mine.
For the little one, I got a fish finger meal. The kiddo loved it! But the fries were just as salty as the grown-up version. Seems like the chef had a heavy hand with the salt shaker.
Now, let's talk about the tandoori pizza. Overcooked? Check. Too much cheese? Double check. Missing the extra chillies I paid 50p for? Triple check. It was a hot mess, but not in the spicy way I wanted.
I also ordered two pots of burger sauce for 70p each. Guess what? Only one showed up. Maybe the other one's on a world tour or something.
So, here I am, eating the leftover pizza and thinking, "Did I really just spend £40 on this?" I might give them another shot, but next time, I'm...
