2 part review pt1 canteen, part 2 gigs.
Good place to get some hot food for lunch or something that isn't a sandwich which is all anyone else nearby does. Although its a Uni canteen and not expensive it certainly isnt cheap either. Expect a decent range of kiosks with fish and chips, Indian, Italian, 'home cooking', healthy and veggie/vegan etc. Full of students, faculty staff and a few old differed dodderers that I suspect were around to see the extinction of the dinosaurs. Occasionally the Uni has conventions here which means it can be quite varied e.g. last week or two was medieval conference so lots interesting coversations to listen to! Also this place as noted does gigs - in that respect it's an excellent venue with decent bands, cheap and a good view and space to mosh/dance/enjoy...
Read moreFood is all too often of disappointing quality. Slimy British pie, peppered smoked mackerel from Tesco in the oven, fried ball of potato puree. That’s not good that can help your brain rewire. International cuisine like Indian and Asian is bland or prepared in small plastic bags. Salads usually a good compromise, but why half of the stuff such as chickpeas and beans are from tincan? I have never ever seen a canteen where more than half of the food is as if bought from the supermarket and warmed in the oven. There are sometimes actual lentil stews or Moroccan couscous with actual fresh veggies that are cooked. Why don’t you cook more often? No need for another fast...

AS A result he is NOT WELCOME HERE. When I was a student in Leeds I really liked that plate. Before entering the refectory I was looking that plate with a smile on my face.
