Disappointing...
This was my second visit to Kassap, the last time was pre-pandemic. I remember being underwhelmed at that time, however, since then I'd heard good things, and thought I'd give it another go!
First let me start with some positives; the place looks very nice, it's well decorated and there's adequate spacing between tables with a good atmosphere. The wine and cocktails were good when they eventually arrived.
However, our experience was quite poor. The service was very slow and we were waiting 10-15 mins before someone took our order. And that was after actively trying to flag servers down who were walking past our table. After finally getting an order in (we'd asked for a couple of beers to start and some wine for the main), we had to wait another 15 minutes or so for the wine to arrive. About ten minutes later, the food arrived, along with the pints which at that point we didn't want.
The servers themselves were reasonably pleasant. However, whilst we were actively waiting for someone to take our order, the manager came over to inform us that we needed to hurry up as they needed the table in an hour. I had to point out at this stage that it might help if the service was a little faster. He then walked off.
The food. I think nowadays, most people can cook themselves a decent steak. One thing you expect a restaurant to do well, aside from cooking it properly, is to properly season the steak. All of our steaks were under-seasoned to the point of being bland. Barely any salt, or pepper. Kassap - if you want an idea of how to season properly, try visit Cowshed, it's not far away and far superior in my opinion.
So... all in all, a bit of a disappointing experience. Very much style over substance. Would I go back? I don't think so, two strikes and you're out. P.S. Potentiall visitors, save yourself some money, buy a 32 day aged rib eye from Aldi, season it properly and cook it how you like. You'll have a tastier steak, get your drinks much faster and it'll cost...
Read moreMe and a couple of friends visited this restaurant quite excited with the prospect of steaks they had on offer. The restaurant was moderately busy as you would expect on any other Saturday evening.
We ordered the tomohawk and the Kassap steak along with four portions of fries. The food took just over an hour to arrive. The food itself was "okay". Presentation could have been much better. Staff seemed to have little idea as to what was going on. For example, with this establishment being of Turkish ownership we asked for some "Baklava" at the end of our meal as a dessert however the waitress seemed to have thought this was some form of beer! The waitress had to call over one of her colleugues to come and help her as she had no idea what this was(?)
As they bought the baklava out, our table still had our food remains on it with no space for the Baklava. We then mentioned that the service was poor and the waiter laughed thinking it was all some kind of joke (?) however we made it clear that we were serious and he quickly realised the severity of his reaction.
All in all was not happy with the experience however I am sure this may all have just been a blip. The owner (Bayram) came to speak to us knowing we were not happy with what we encountered and was courteous enough ask us how they could make up for their errors. He informed us a lot of them were new staff so this meant that they had not completed their full training just yet. He took full ownership of their faults and promised upon further visits he personally would ensure he would make things right.
We believe good food should always marry up with good service. Although we were let down by the service on this occasion I'm sure they can improve...

We ordered the 1kg Tomahawk steak (carved tableside, cooked perfectly medium-rare), and it was an absolute showstopper! Smoky, juicy, tender, and packed with flavour. The staff cooked it live right in front of us with great energy and precision—like dinner and a show in one!
Also tried the Swordfish, King Prawn & Octopus—fresh, beautifully grilled and plated. The Butcher Salad and sides (skin-on fries & creamed spinach) balanced everything perfectly. Drinks were refreshing and well priced.
A special shoutout to Viktoria, our lovely server from Ukraine! She was absolutely amazing—friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful. She patiently explained every item on the menu, gave us honest recommendations, and made sure our dining experience was seamless from start to finish. Her warm smile and thoughtful service made us feel truly welcomed. Because of Viktoria alone, I already want to come back with friends again!
The ambiance was warm and stylish, with charming lighting and a great vibe. From the wooden menus to the table-side action and heartfelt service—it was unforgettable.
Final bill: £166.54 for 2 people. Worth every penny.
Highly recommend for steak lovers, special occasions, or just treating yourself right in Liverpool!
