We went here on New Year’s Day for lunch after being out and shopping with friends. Our friends had their dog with them and it wasn’t a problem to have the dog in the restaurant.
We ordered onion rings, coleslaw, and chicken wings for starters. The onion rings were a bit over fried and had too much batter. My husband and his friend were very disappointed with them. So, I can’t recommend them and that’s the reason for the 4 stars for food.
However, EVERYTHING else was absolutely delicious! I had the tribute burger with the rosemary chips and I was blown away by the quality of everything. I was a bit sad when I was at my last bite of burger. The fries were perfectly fried and balanced with salt and rosemary. They were delicious and unlike the onion rings not extremely greasy.
The wings were very flavorful and despite their appearance had a nice sauce on them added to the bits on top that was added a satisfying crunch to each bite of the wings.
I am not a huge coleslaw person but, everyone had some and loved it. It was made with purple cabbage which added a nice pop of color to their plates. I was informing that it had a wonderful taste and texture.
Overall I would happily go here again when I am in Liverpool and I want a delicious quality burger that reminds me of home (aka USA)
Oh my goodness! How can I forget about the service! As I mentioned, we went on New Year’s Day so, we expected the service to be a bit lacking and food to be a little slow to arrive. But, against all odds, our food came out quickly and our waiter provided us with everything we needed before we even asked him. Though, he could have been giving us everything we needed so we don’t pester him, lol. I choose to believe he was simply the best waiter! He checked on us regularly and as I said anticipated our needs which is exactly what you want.
I am looking forward to coming back to Liverpool and enjoying a delicious burger and fries...
Read moreIt was a Monday Eve and quiet (earlier this evening on the 5th Dec) and the Waitress spent most of her time on a laptop- serving customers in-between. My husband asked if he could have his burger cooked well done as his was served medium rare (mine was as well -it was vegetarian and quite nice but was lukewarm which I wouldn't have liked if it was meat). The Waitress said the menu pointed to all burgers being cooked medium rare, which we hadn't read-is this in the small print? -what about those customers who don't like medium rare. There was obviously the option to cook the burgers differently as they recooked my husband a burger-but couldn't they have asked how he'd like it beforehand? I asked for a side order of chips so she gave us the chips on my husband's plate before it was recooked (and charged the extra for it). When I went to the toilets the toilet roll had run out in most cubicles- I thought the Waitress could have got off her laptop and checked on the toilets. We spent just over £30 on the meal and my husband said MacDonalds would have been better- which is saying something! Two stars for the wasted opportunity of a potentially nice place (I enjoyed my previous visit a few months ago) which I won't be...
Read moreHonest Burger has been a staple for me since I first visited their original stall in Brixton, back when my brother introduced me to it. I’ve seen it grow, and it’s safe to say it’s practically taken over the burger scene in London. So, when it finally made its way to Liverpool, I was stoked.
The burger itself is always solid. I go for the Honest Burger every time – it’s simple, delicious, and consistent. I appreciate the stripped-back menu and the ethos of focusing on doing just a few things really well. No gimmicks, just well-cooked patties, fresh ingredients, and those signature rosemary salted chips.
That said, I can't help but wonder if my familiarity with Honest Burger is what’s keeping me from giving it a perfect 5. Don’t get me wrong, the food is always good, but sometimes I’m left wishing for that one showstopping item that would take it to the next level. I get the charm in keeping it simple, but maybe that's what’s holding me back from giving it the full five stars.
Still, it’s a go-to place for a solid burger when you want something quick, satisfying, and reliable. If you're new to Honest Burger, you'll love it. If you're a regular like me, you might sometimes be left craving that...
