The Italian Club is a beautiful place to go eat. It is quaint, with character and a charm you dont often find today. It is located in a very old part of Liverpool's city centre on the top of Bold st. It is very much a family run restaurant, with genuine Italian family members who are always happy to see you and makes this restaurant have a charm that is not a common thing in this day and age.
The restaurant is not a noisy place, it is a small to medium sized area. It offers seating to accommodate a large family event, or a small table for 2. I like the family themed decor on the walls as they are have a mural of the owners generation of family members, going all the way to Italy and when they emigrated to Liverpool. The food is incredible. Every I have been I've never had a less than amazing food. The menu isn't overwhelming with to much choice. I feel they have perfectly balanced the selection of choices and variety of Italian food selection. I have never been a big Pizza fan, however here the pizza is something else I've not experienced anywhere else. It is now my go to choice, be it a main meal or something to share with the family as a starter. The toilets are located downstairs, which are steep. This isn't something the restaurant has control over as it is the way the buildings have been designed 100s of years ago. So if you are with anyone who is not able to use the stairs then go to the bathroom before you go. As this issue isn't something worth choosing to eat elsewhere as you will most definitely be missing out on a fantastic meal. The pasta meals are also made as if your Grandma had made it at home from scratch using fresh ingredients and all cooked on a stove. You can see the staff in the kitchen when you go downstairs as that is the same level as the toilet. (But not next to each other so it's fine) The portion size of each meal is very generous and often fills you up regardless of your appetite. The best part is that the staff provide you witn pizza boxes or containers to take home what you didn't finish to enjoy again the next day. It is immaculate inside. I also like that at the entrance of the restaurant, they have floor to ceiling shelves that sell the ingredients they use themselves should you want to buy them and make something at home.
I 100% recommend this restaurant and I also advise you book in advance as I have never seen the...
Read moreThe Italian Club is by far the best Italian restaurant in Liverpool City Centre. The building is beautiful with some of thr original features intentionally visible inside. It is on a historic street in Liverpool, close to "The Bombed Out Church" a Liverpool land mark.
The staff make the restaurant experience very authentic in its Italian theme. There are genuine Italian family members who work inside The Italian Club. The interior decor of the restaurant highlight the "Family" run business it has. It shows large mural art works throughout the walls of the original family members who was born in Italy and emigrated to the UK many years ago. I really do like the generational family run business they have created. The FOOD. I am not a big fan of Pizza. However, the pizza they make at "The Italian Club" is incredible the nicest Pizza I've experienced. Which is something else considering I'm not a big Pizza fan. The food is all authenticly made with fresh ingredients in house. What I do like is the front of the shop has a large display of the ingredients they use themselves, for sale. The arrabiatta is incredible, as is Spag-bol and they other meals you'd expect to find in an Italian restaurant. The inside is very well laid out, as it isn't a large restaurant, but somehow makes pleanty of room for all different size party's from groups of 10 to a couple wanting a romantic meal. The music is at a unobtrusive level which allows you to have a chat without raising your voice. It feels light & airy has a very warm and friendly atmosphere, with staff who are happy and serve you with a smile when greeted and taken to your table. It is ideal for families, couples and groups. It is recommended to call and book beforehand, as it is a very popular place to eat. The staff will do their best to accommodate walkins.
This is a must if you are in the mood for an authentic Italian Restaurant...
Read moreWe booked The Italian Club for our 1st wedding anniversary and it was a big part of our trip to Liverpool. The experience was awkward to put it nicely... I first asked if Spag Bolognese has any large vegetables or if that's a smooth sauce (my husband is fussy about large onion pieces). The waiter said it depends on how the chef decided to make it and never offered to check the actual answer.. Not a big problem, we chose different dishes instead and this is where the weirdness started... I went for 'Soup of the day' and salad (Appetisers), and my husband picked a pizza (Mains ). Both our dishes were supposed to be mains for us but waiter never asked if we want that brought out at the same time, he just assumed the normal 'starter first, mains after' process. This meant my food was delivered first and my husband sat there watching me eat for an hour! When I was finished they brought out his main and then I sat there watching him eat. We never had food together and all waiters walking past saw that!
In regards to atmosphere, we were sat at a table that was constantly vibrating, almost like we were sitting on top of a generator in the basement - very unpleasant feeling, could see the vibration ripples in my drinks glass. The only positive I can say about our 1st wedding anniversary experience is the lady that delivers drinks - she was so friendly and kind! I don't hold a grudge and I'll move past the waiter's ignorance, but would never come back again or recommend to friends. Lots of other nice places in Liverpool that will not make you feel like an...
