Cocktails were really good, but the low score was for the service. When we entered the bar there was no bar tender or anyone around who seemed to work there to seat us. It then started to get a bit busy and there was just 1 lady working there. We then sat at our table for about 30 minutes before we were offered any drinks (and had to try and find menus for ourselves). The drinks were already pre-made - so it seems crazy to wait that long for something that took them all of 30 seconds to open and bring over. We ordered a couple of drinks each, then when we got the bill they had added a 12.5% service charge. Given the wait, and the fact our server had literally just brought a bottle to us and nothing else, we thought this was unreasonable, so we asked it to be removed. However, our male server was clearly very unhappy with this and continued to pressure us asking why and repeatedly asking us if we had enjoyed our drinks. On a night out, catching up with a friend from overseas, we didn't particularly want to discuss the reasons and complain, just to pay the bill, without a tip. But this server made it very uncomfortable and really tainted the night. It was bizzarre he feels entitled to a tip for bad service. And if this is going to be argued that a service charge isn't a tip, then it really should just be included in the cost of the drink. I don't want to do maths on a night out so work out what my bill will be. Tips should be voluntary, for a server going above and beyond. Service charge should be included in the cost of the drink - not added...
Read moreA fun minimalistic bar for a date. Great service, a bit tight seating near the bar, solid cocktails.
The entrance is a bit confusing, because the door doesn't really look like a door. It looked like a giant window, and the entrance to the flats above was the entrance. It took them a bit of time to seat us as they seemed quite busy.
Once we got seated, the service was great. Everyone was so friendly! I appreciated the casual, friendly tone of all the bar staff. It's also super easy to spot them as they all dressed in jumpsuits.
Drinks wise, they were all good. A bit on the strong side (but I'm not complaining). All the drinks we got were either clear or slightly colored. I was a bit put off by this at first, because usually a clear drink means it's super strong. They were strong enough, but not like drinking straight liquor. I really appreciated that they brought separate glasses when my husband and I wanted to split a drink.
The only big downside was we were sitting on the couches opposite to the bar where a lot of traffic is. My husband is a tall guy, and he kept having to move his legs when anyone wanted to get by. Next time, I'd prefer sitting somewhere where there's...
Read moreI'm failry new to London having just moved here 6 months ago, I had heard that this bar with shapes for a name was something special. It had been on my list of places to go to for quite some time so when a firend of mine decided to come and visit, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to finally go. Little did I know that my friend who was visiting had a short list of bars that she wanted to pass through while she was here and sure enough, this bar with shapes for a name was at the top of her list. Apparently, it's one of the top 50 bars in the world ~ I had no idea!
Once you enter, you immediately see that there's a lot of attention to detail. Even though the details are very minimalist, they're thoroughly thought through. From the ambient lighting in the first room, to the cafeteria style backroom and the long communal table in the basement. The menu features signature cocktails and pre-batched classics. We tried a selection of each, with our favorites in the signature section. These are not your run of the mill cocktails. The ingredients are carefully selected and offer a unique and flavorful experience. 10/10...
