I don't think this place lives up to it's reputation. I've been a number of times now and I don't have many positive things to say about the coffee itself, there is nothing particularly good about it, I'm not being a dick, but I have honestly had better coffee from Starbucks. Coffees are small, weak, over priced and rushed. Monmouth Coffee do this kind of 'small but precious' coffee thing much better.
The decor is sleepy, which would be ok if the coffee was the star, however the coffee is just as boring. Such a shame as the space itself could've had a much more interesting cafe on Redchurch street.
The service is friendly and the tattooed girls with glasses on the till is awesome, however service is painfully slow, fumbled and chaotic. It is not the kind of place you go for sunday brunch to relax and enjoy the day...the wait time for food and the over crowding is highly irritating.
My meal came out 30minutes before my boyfriends, we tried to stay positive about it, his never came, after 45minutes we asked the girl to give us our money back. She was lovely about it, but during that time multiple people around us were also complaining about the service, staff dropped and smashed things more than once and it was just a horrible start to our sunday.
My meal was nice enough, just wished it wasn't so disorganised. We felt bad for the staff, if we were stressed I can't even imagine how they must have felt. It's more intense than going to IKEA.
It is much calmer during the week, however, the coffee is still average.
Sorry guys, I wish I could've loved it as it's so...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI LOVE Allpress coffee and it was such a pity my experience earlier today didnāt match my previous experiences or the care, attention and craft you would expect from a decent coffee place.
I ordered an oat latte and a flat white and, although the flat white was fine taste-wise, in both drinks the milks were lazily ādumpedā into the two cups by the male-presenting barista with longish wavy hair. Iām not sure if they were in training, but if that was the case they certainly have a long way to go.
I didnāt expect immaculate latte art, but the steamed milk was thrown into my cup with a lack of care I had never witnessed before. Unsurprisingly, given the messy looking drinks, a colleague next to the barista then quickly rushed to put lids on the two coffees.
The experience was disappointing and it showed a lack of respect towards customers. The latte was flat and the texture of the foam was more like that of a cappuccino.
If I had time, I would have gone back to ask for the drinks to be made again.
I appreciate it was a little busy when I arrived, but there was no queue behind me when my coffees were being made. Nevertheless, that would have not justified that lack of care,...
Read moreStarting with the positives - the coffee here is really good. The prices here are on the high side £4.20 for a flat white, latte or cappuccino. The pastries are not cheap at £4.30 for a croissant. The staff did explain the pricing and justification and actually that was helpful. Wholesale coffee prices have been rising The service is fine but watch out for the attempt to try to charge you a service charge/tip on top of the drinks prices!! Never in London have I seen a coffee shop that has requested to add a tip onto a coffee. There is a small number of companies in London that seem to do this to try and rinse as much money from tourists who come to London as possible. Only a tourist would consider paying a tip for ordering a coffee in coffee shop where there is actually no service element involved apart from taking your order from a counter, and you have to pick up the coffee yourself. It feels cheeky. Having said that, if you are wanting a good coffee, then their coffee is...
