This used to be one of my and my friends favorite restaurants which we absolutely love the desserts here. However, I had a very disappointing experience last night that left me quite frustrated.First, we had to wait downstairs for literally 20 minutes just to find out whether there was space available upstairs. I completely understand that it was late and the staff were probably exhausted — I work in customer service myself, so I know how draining it can be. But that doesn’t excuse the rude behavior we encountered. One of the staff members (possibly the manager, I’m not sure) spoke to us — and even to her colleagues — in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner. It was genuinely shocking and uncomfortable.Eventually, we were seated upstairs, but things didn’t get any better. When the bill arrived, we were charged a £4 service fee — fair enough — but then we noticed an additional “power charge” added simply because we came in just for dessert. That is absolutely unacceptable and feels like a blatant rip-off. We were not informed of this charge beforehand, and we certainly didn’t receive any extra service that would justify it.I’m honestly very disappointed. This experience has really soured a place I once enjoyed, and as much as I love the dessert, I don’t think I’ll be...

Walking into Amelie felt like settling in to watch a movie you’ve been excited about only to get through the opening scene and then spend the rest of the time watching the screen buffer. That perfectly sums up our experience.
My friends and I were genuinely looking forward to dining here, but the reality was a complete letdown. The staff’s attitude was noticeably unprofessional both in how they interacted with each other and especially with us. It created a tense, unwelcoming atmosphere from the start.
We ordered a salad, two starters, and two mains. Only the salad ever arrived. After that, we waited over 45 minutes or more with zero updates or acknowledgment. We tried several times to get a server’s attention, only to be ignored or brushed off with a dismissive “just wait.” Eventually, we gave up and asked for the bill. That, too, took another 10 minutes to arrive. While one of the staff did offer a dessert as an apology, by then the experience was beyond repair.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in terms of service and treatment. It felt less like a restaurant and more like an exercise in patience. I would not recommend Amelie to anyone expecting basic...
Read moreDuring our visit, the overall standard of service was disappointing. Upon receiving our meals, the plates were simply placed on the table without any verbal interaction from the waiter to check if we required anything further. We had to specifically request salt and pepper. Similarly, when our plates were cleared, there was again no engagement or offer of further service, prompting us to ask for the dessert menu ourselves.
While dining, we observed staff engaged in a conversation with a gentleman regarding the restaurant’s licensing. This discussion, in our view, should have been conducted privately rather than in the main dining area, as it detracted from the ambiance.
Due to the delays and overall inattentiveness, we decided against ordering dessert. When we requested the bill, there was a noticeable wait, during which we observed a staff member appearing idle. Eventually, we opted to go inside to settle the bill, which again took an unreasonable amount of time.
To add to the disorganised impression, we asked one of the waitresses for the name of a particularly helpful colleague, but she was unable to provide it as she ‘couldn’t remember’ his name.
Overall, the experience was unsatisfactory, marked by a lack of attentiveness, professionalism,...
