I had lovely time with girl friends here. The location is 10/10. The cafe is bright and airy and peaceful on the weekend as there are no offices opened. It's not that spacious indoor but they managed to squeeze tables in and also more seating outdoor. I can imagine on a sunny day, this place will be jam packed.
The service was great. The staff were friendly and attentive. There were only 2 FOHs which at times felt like we had to try to get their attention. I hope they have more staff when it's busier!
The food was good. We all had different dishes. They came in good portion - not so big but not too small and everyone said the flavours were good. The mushroom toast looked delicious and I would recommend anyone to try!
I went for granola bowl which delivered what it says on the menu. It was simple. Good amount of granola with dried fruits, toasted almond flakes and coconut. It's not overly sweet. Some fresh berries added a bit of freshness to the bowl. Do I feel like this is worth the price? Big question.
I can't deny that the price is a bit pricey which would make me hesitant to visit here again, having been to many other cafes (in the similar area) that can offer more creative menus for the price, or offer similar quality brunch menus at a more affordable price. I thought of it as I paid for the atmosphere which is one of their selling points. And I can promise that you won't be disappointed if you're looking for a beautiful cafe that nails good vibes that will impress anyone.
The coffee price at cafes in London hover around the same range so I wasn't surprised, but £3.80 for breakfast/earl grey tea was absolute wild for me.
My only comment would go to the toilet. It's a bit specific but I found that the toilet was way too dark. There's only ambient, very low lighting and doesn't serve any visibility. I couldn't find any light switches. This isn't so great for people with sighted issues! (They're nice, clean and very pretty toilet btw).
Overall, good cafe with fantastic atmosphere. Perfect for hangouts with friends, dates, and special occasion. Food isn't the star of the show but still deliver good quality and...
Read moreBarbie Green is a gorgeous cafe in Barbican from the wonderful Daisy Green collection. Always bright, colourful and Australian themed, each cafe / restaurant always has the Daisy Green ‘touch’.
Barbie Green is more minimalist than some of the other cafes but still retains its vibrant atmosphere. It will no doubt be swarmed with workers from Bank, Barbican, Moorgate and St Paul’s as it’s open from 6.30-10pm.
For breakfast, they offer takeaway freshly made pastries and cakes and, of course, a variety of hot drinks. Alternatively, you can start your day with a more relaxed eat in breakfast. At lunch and dinner, Barbie Green serves a range of pizzas and smaller / larger plates. The nduja prawns sound AMAZING.
We visited for brunch at the weekend and it was great to see how busy it was, given the city is known for being quieter on Saturdays and Sundays. Barbie Green offers its infamous bottomless brunch where you can delve into a sweet and savoury dish as well as bottomless prosecco or mimosas for 100 minutes for only £39.50 pp.
We had the following dishes:
Award winning banana bread sandwich, honey mascarpone cream, fresh berries, flaked almonds (£9.8) Buttermilk blueberry pancakes, fresh berries, honey mascarpone cream, pure maple (£11.6) Smashed avocado, cold fermented activated charcoal sourdough, house labne, Aleppo chilli (£8.6) Fancy bacon roll, poached eggs, crispy onions, back bacon, holy f*ck hollandaise, paratha roti (£13.8)
Oh my, the food is always great at a Daisy Green. The pancakes are a must order – they are so light and fluffy. Such a dreamy combination with honey mascarpone cream and fresh berries. The banana bread has become pretty famous at Daisy Green as has the Fancy Bacon Roll and we understand why!
The Daisy Green menus are original and feature innovative twists on the classics which work really well. Barbie Green is an awesome cafe in Barbican both during the week and for a boozier weekend brunch. Make sure you have a cheeky Gin Sour too – it...
Read moreTerrible terrible service and burnt pancakes. Really wouldn’t advise going, I have been to Scarlett green and it was better. Don’t go here! ‼️‼️
I haven’t complained about a restaurant before, so just to let you (and future customers) know how remarkably lax your staff were.
Our table felt totally ignored. I booked at table for 1:30pm and we arrived early, sat at a high table to wait (we sat there for 40mins) until I asked if we could have a drink and actually sit at a table and see a food menu.
Everytime we needed service we waited a long time before we were able to get the eye contact of the staff who were faffing around doing anything but serving us and other tables - they were cleaning cutlery and rearranging chairs.
Each time we needed something it took a long time for us to coax them over and we had to remind them as they often forgot what we needed.
Our food came out and they left it on a service table near us, until I pointed out it was there and ours and could we have it, the man I did this to walked away(?!) and another chap eventually gave us it. Absolutely laughable service it is like every staff member was severely hung over!
When we ordered the bill he didn’t even tell us the total or show us the bill and just asked if we were splitting it, which we wanted to -but he didn’t show us the bill until we asked for it and we wanted to check it because the staff were so incompetent it may well have been incorrect.
They seriously need retraining and it is as if they have never worked in, or even been in a cafe before. The food was ok -but the pancakes we ordered were brown and borderline burnt in areas.
Really wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone and we weren’t the only table being ignored by staff, I had to ask a staff member to help another table that was struggling to get their assistance too.
Sort it out, it is a real shame and I think we ought to have...
