Edible food. Inflexible and panicked service. Do not recommend for vegetarians.
I asked what the vegetarian options were. I was told that I could choose two from a selection of beans, veg, mushrooms and sweetcorn. A bit steep for the £9.15 price but I had a train to catch and a lack of healthy options. We progressed to the main filling options, where I thought it worth clarifying that there were no vegetarian options. The server ran me through the choices, which included a vegan option. I let her know that vegan is also vegetarian and that I’d like some. She let me know that no, they’re different, and told me that a filling is included in the standard wrap but if I wanted some it would be £1 extra?!? Turns out that since I’d chosen two base fillings (under the impression that they were the only vege options), if I wanted the vegetarian (vegan) main filling I’d be charged an extra £1 for the extra base filling that I’d selected. I was at this point visibly frustrated, which was met by frustration from the server who stared me down for asking her to explain which of the toppings would also be of extra cost. I’m sorry but the difference in pricing system for the jalapeños and the cheeses isn’t clear from the way these tiles are randomly interspersed.
I explained this to the manager at the till, who was nervous as he seemed the only one aware that they were simultaneously going through an inspection. He apologised and said he wouldn’t charge me the extra £1. He still charged me the extra £1.
The food itself was relatively fresh but bland.
I was stood in the queue behind an older gentleman who asked for something with a bit of everything. In response, he was frustratingly told that he would need to choose from a host of confusing edgy titles - none of which would be covered by the £5 in his hand. After a few minutes of the situation having gone from the wholesome to painful, the manager stepped...
Read moreMy recent visit to Bar Burrito was nothing short of a culinary nightmare. From the moment I stepped in, disappointment was the flavor of the day.
Firstly, the so-called "naked box" was laughably small, resembling an 8-year-old's lunch box rather than a satisfying meal. Portion control here seems to be a euphemism for stinginess.
The staff were particularly unaccommodating, going to great lengths to ensure not a single grain of rice was given in excess. Every potential extra, even those that should be complimentary, came with an additional charge, creating a nickel-and-dime experience that left a bad taste in my mouth.
Adding insult to injury, the staff treated me and my friend with a palpable disdain, as if we were unwelcome intruders rather than paying customers. The manager's explicit instruction to charge extra for anything additional we requested only reinforced the overall hostile atmosphere.
To top it all off, the lack of basic amenities like trash bins in the entire store added to the frustration, highlighting a complete disregard for customer convenience and cleanliness.
The final blow was the exorbitant cost. Paying £11 for a portion that barely suffices as a child's meal in today's economy is outrageous. I shudder to think what the price would be if I dared to ask for the extras I actually wanted.
In summary, Bar Burrito has plummeted in quality and service, and I genuinely wish the CEO the best in turning this ship around. Any sensible person will undoubtedly avoid a repeat visit after experiencing such poor value...
Read moreI recently visited Barburrito Restaurant, located in Paddington Station, for my birthday celebration. I must say, the atmosphere of the restaurant was just okay.
However, what really put a damper on my experience was the bird poo on the tables and seats.
As soon as I entered the restaurant, I noticed that there were bird droppings on the tables and chairs. It was not a pleasant sight and made me question the cleanliness of the place. I understand that the restaurant is located in a busy train station, but it is still important to maintain a clean and hygienic environment for customers to dine in.
Despite the unappealing surroundings, I decided to give the restaurant a chance and ordered a burrito. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of the food. The burrito was delicious and lived up to my expectations. However, what made my experience memorable was the exceptional service provided by one of the staff members, Alfie.
Alfie greeted me with a warm smile and was extremely friendly throughout my visit. He took the time to chat with me and even wished me a happy birthday.
In conclusion, while the atmosphere of Barburrito Restaurant in Paddington Station may not be the best due to the bird poo on the tables and seats, the delicious food and exceptional customer service from staff like Alfie make up for it. I would recommend giving this restaurant a try, but be prepared for a less than ideal environment. Thank you, Alfie, for making my birthday burrito a...
