Me and my partner recently discovered this little gem during one of London's heatwaves and it felt like discovering an oasis. Not only is it shaded and leafy, it's on a quiet road (a welcome change after you've moved through many sweaty bodies on Broadway market) and the service here is first class. When we ordered wines, we were also given a special recommendation to try as well as a bonus. And those recommendations were on point! We discovered new delicious wines and basically could have spent the rest of the evening working our way through the wine list. I now have a new favorite Riesling- Koehler-ruprecht “Kallstadter Riesling” by the glass too! The snack menu is one of those that don’t have 100 options because the 15 or so are all you want and need. The meats were clearly selected with intent and the tinned seafood and chewy fresh sourdough was the perfect salty pairing for some of the wine we were trying. Read moreWhat an unexpected gem. We were looking for an alternative to the local pubs and, to our great fortune, discovered Brett and Bastardo.
His colleague was instantly welcoming as we helped ourselves to a seat, rehydrated with some water and perused the wine list.
Brett came to answer any questions, provide samples and give his own recommendations which, unsurprisingly, we leapt on.
What started as a pop-in turned into a very pleasant 1.5hrs of great wine, lovely atmosphere and amazing service.
