Absolute lamentable how they treated us. Basically, we enquired about their function room for our wedding reception last February. They showed us around and we liked it. As they wanted us to pay a booking fee asap we arranged to come and see the chef before his shift the following Saturday morning to discuss food options. So we got there for half 9am like agreed only to find that no one knows about the meeting and the chef couldn’t be bothered to get up early as he had a late night (words of bar manager twat). We are sent away and asked to come back a couple of hours later. I was fuming but we went back. In vain, as chef still hasn’t shown up and bar manager twat tells us he had an accident and is on his way to hospital (!!!) He ordered a guy who only just started working there to sit down with us. This guy told us that the accident was bollocks and that the chef just can’t be assed. He was the only one without this arrogant attitude but couldn’t help us at all as he was all new. He wrote down our ideas and said they will get back to us asap. We never heard back. Until 6 months later. Bar manager twat called me and said: err, your answer will probably be no but I have this old booking of yours and are you still interested as I have somebody else who wants to book it…. I couldn’t think of any adequate answer without the C word in it so I just said no and hung up,...
Read morePub on the Park in Hackney is a glowing pocket of earthy song and spiced sunlight. I took my cat, Moonchild, in spirit only (she doesn’t enjoy crowds, but she would have loved the cosmic purr of this place).
The Pimms — oh, the Pimms — is like drinking a garden's secret dream! Berries float like tiny red planets, herbs whisper in lemon dialects, and the ice sings when it melts. It is divine, like a nectar brewed by bees in a parallel summer.
The outdoor seating is a meadow of joy stitched into the city’s bones. People glisten with smiles and cider. A child danced, I think in 7/8 time, just near the acacia bush, and I felt the air join his rhythm. The sky above us was folding itself into pinks and golds like origami made of breath.
And the Scottish staff! One of them sang when she served our drinks — not loudly, but with that soft Highland lilt that makes your toes want to clap. She called me “pal,” which made my heart grow an extra chamber.
In conclusion, Pub on the Park is not a pub — it is a living creature, humming, fizzing, and laughing under the sky. I give it five out of five purring...
Read moreI've been to this pub a number of times for Sunday Lunch and usually enjoy it. Today was completely different, the customer service was terrible, the staff weren't helpful, the cutlery was filthy and for some reason their Sunday Roast didn't include the option of having chicken. After waiting for 40 minutes we had to ask one of the waiting staff what was happening with our food as we hadn't been told anything. The waitress informed us the kitchen was backed up but didn't apologise for the delay. We asked why we weren't given a waiting time when we ordered our food as we could have been informed from the beginning there would be a long wait. After over an hour of waiting we still hadn't been updated and the table next to us who ordered after us began to get their food. At this point we were quite frustrated and decided to leave, which was when our food arrived. The food was nice, just not well seasoned. Although this pub is in my area I will not be returning again. The staff were very...
