Becks Cafe — Restaurant in London

Today was my 3rd time into this place. It was packed and therefore I was expecting a bit of delay in getting my meal, but what happend was a disaster for me and my mate. It was about 10 of us going to have our breakfast in there, happilly we all fitted in nicely and ordered our food, 60 minutes later, me with my mate next to me didn't got our food nor our hot drinks yet. At that time, I've stood up, went upstairs and asked for my meal, I've been told they are very sorry and promised to have it ready in a very short time. After another 10 minutes, I finally got my meal with a free hot/cold drink which was ginger beer when I clearly asked for sprite, my mate left before I got my food, but his one never arrived anyway. At the cashier (I've been give a code by the waiter on my way to it) they wanted to charge me for my hot drink too, because it wasn't on the meal, but when I ordered it I clearly asked if that's included. Anyways, I got away with 60+mins wait, the price of the meal and a free ginger beer, which I didn't wanted and all this while a water tap was dripping on my head and shoulders every now and then. Never had a worse experience like this in my life in any of the 5 European countries that...

I’ve eaten here a few time and always found this cafe to be friendly and welcoming. Not the cleanest place on the planet but it is ok. However, today - I am disgusted and I will NEVER eat here again. We arrived at 10:45 am for breakfast and parked in a metre. By 11:30 we had still not been served! This was after:

1: asked waiter to clean our table off and were told to wait. It never did get cleaned 2: while still at the table waiting for it to be cleaned a huge stack of crates contains drinks in bottle and can fell directly across the doorway into my friend - narrowly missing him. He was asked if he was on - but no apology was made to him or me. Because of broken glass and come everywhere we moved tables. 3: we asked for the new table to cleaned - when waiter finally arrived to clean the table he did so with a dirty old cloth. Just as well I has my own sanitiser and cleaned the table myself. 4: waiter still left plates of left over food from previous customers in our table. 5: food arrived with wrong items on plates. 6: food was stone cold.

I get they were short of staff but no apologies were made.

We left disgusted. Went into Fast Break opposite and was served immediately and food arrived...

Becks is the best cafe in London. No doubt. Been living in the area for a year and it’s been so nice having somewhere consistently bang on the money to go to. Builders in the area love it, office workers love it, residential adore it... Some of the best bits are:

-Large menu range, but everything seems always in stock. Every menu item is cooked and made perfectly. -Lovely (redecorated) interior, every table equipped with condiments. -Great prices. Seriously. Everything seems fresh too. Some stuff I’m certain they source from a local butchers. -Very respectable portion sizes. Always hits the sweet spot where you couldn’t eat any more but nothing wasted. -Excellent service, speedy but friendly atmosphere. Food comes in minutes but you don’t feel rushed at all. Staff seem to like their job and just makes the whole experience comfortable. -takeaway and delivery always well packaged too.
