It makes me quite sentimental leaving my first and last review here, for Canton. I will be leaving Red Lion Street very soon and Canton Element has been my main spot for food and comfort for the past year I have lived in the street and now sadly I’m moving out from the street.
The food is absolutely top-rate and super authentic with a large range of selections from eastern Asian foods like Laksa noodles to delicate Hong Kong style dim sums as well as mainland Chinese dishes and mostly importantly the price is unimaginably cheap compared to the tourist-filled China town food spots. The staff, especially the manager, is sweet and charming—and all of them are absolutely experts in food. They always go extra miles to meet customers’ needs, be it an extra strong gin & tonic on your Saturday existentialist nightout or valuable advice on handling stress and chaos in life. They are definitely some of the friendliest people I have encountered in London for sure.
Canton is a must-visit restaurant if you are looking for a modern-esque classy place for a weekday catch up with your colleagues and mates or a quick romantic getaway from the bustling London life with your loved ones.
I can’t articulate enough how deeply in love I am with the restaurant and the food there. I have brought all my closest friends to Canton and man, trust me, you won’t regret checking out the spot, if you are just like me, just another foodie lost in...
Read moreWe have visited the karaoke regularly for 7-8 times at least, spent 2-3k pounds there as there’s minimal spending of 330£. We were there for many times because food is fairly ok and price acceptable. But our last visit was EXTREMELY unpleasant and nightmare.
They have put a CCTV in both two of the private karaoke rooms recently and they are INDEED watching. Once they find you are trying to take out any liquid (suppose alcohol), they will literally KICK into the door violently (who cares anyone sits next to the door or not, who cares you are hurt or not), and shouted “give to me!” loudly. And they will “confiscate” it and return back after you left. No apologies have been made.
We were terrified and good mood was completely destroyed since then. I feel like I was in sort of camp or prison instead of paying to enjoy. I total accept keeping any outside alcohol temporarily if you ask politely and I don’t accept the break in rude action. Really hard to image it can happen in UK to be honest.
Anyway, I won’t come again unfortunately although with good memories here. And strongly don’t recommend using...
Read moreLunchtime special for £13 is quick, tasty and a typical Cantonese. Decor has a modern twist with a grey banquet and white marble tables. Food will land within minutes of ordering and you won’t wait long for a table (but you will probably wait!). It’s funnels people in and out all lunch time between takeaways too. It’s a busy spot and very popular. Chicken satay wasn’t overpowered by peanut sauce. Dim sum looked plump with good fillings. Stir fried rice and salt and pepper pork portion was huge - as were most dishes on the neighbouring tables. You get a lot for your money. Lunch was £18 with a starter, main, coke and service - set menu or £26 without the lunchtime deal starter and main plus beer and service. Service is quick but don’t expect to make jokes with your waiter - they’re there to serve, clear, take payment and seat 4 more couples on your table after you have left. It’s efficient, generous and a great...
