I had no idea how aggressive the 'sales' would be walking down brick lane. We were approached by pretty much every indian restaurant as we walked claiming that their food was the best. All pretty much offered the same deal... 25% off the entire check and a round of free drinks. After we finished our stroll and declining every offer to hear the next one, we went back to the one that sounded the most enticing (and the most crowded)... this place. Little did we know we were being set up for a bait and switch tactic.

The staff was friendly upon entering, accommodating our family of 6 by swiftly arranging the tables and pulling them out so we could sit down. After seating they asked what we wanted to drink and I told them the 'deal' that we were granted. I almost expected them to know what their guy was selling outside to get us in the door but they immediately sounded struck by surprise. Like a car salesman, the server immediately went to the manager to make sure that he could grant us the deal. He came back and asked who specifically told us about the deal. I pointed outside to the guy who now seemed to disappear but handed them the business card that he gave me. They said 'okay'. The temperature seemed to drop immediately like they were getting the lousy end of the stick. He then asked us what we wanted to drink. I confirmed that the round was free and he confirmed. 1 beer and 5 mango lassi's please.

As we proceeded to look at the menu, I was actually surprised at how high the prices were. In my mind, I was thinking they jacked up the price knowing that they would be giving out discounts to get people in the door. That's fine I guess. 25% off brought the prices back down to reality. We continued to look at the menu and then we made our order.

Shortly after ordering our drinks came out. The mango lassi's were pretty good. thick and creamy. The beer was super small. About an 8 oz pour (half pint). That's fine I guess cause it should be free right? I wouldn't mind ordering another. About 5 minutes after enjoying some of our drinks the manager or owner or some authority figure came over to our table with a tablet. He explained to us that he couldn't possibly afford to give us a free round of drinks AND 25% off. He proceeded to tell us that his establishment was very high quality and we'd be getting a great meal at standard prices without a discount. He offered us one or the other... EITHER 25% off the entire check OR the 1 round of free drinks. I specifically told him that we came into the restaurant with that deal in mind and we could have just went next door with the same deal. The car salesman in him seemed to come out and he continued to talk up his restaurant saying how fancy it was and that he could not afford to give us both. He was visibly getting upset that we would hold to what they offered to us in the first place. I told him that he shouldn't be getting upset with us, but his dude outside that was offering this deal if anything. How preposterous! He eventually turned around to his colleague upset. I looked at my wife and she said they may spit in our food or something. I agreed and we decided to just get up and leave. We left our drinks there and got the family out of there.

I normally don't write 1 star reviews. I'll generally give the establishment some leniency thinking that the workers just had a bad day or it was a fluke. Not this one. It felt like they were set up to grab as much money from customers as they could knowing that we were tourists and 1-time guests. Maybe it was a fluke. Maybe their food is actually good. I will never know and won't ever care to know since our experience was a bad one. BTW, we walked about a block and got some indian takeout and ate it at the hotel and it...

I was very tempted to leave the restaurant due to all of the negative reviews that this company had received, I saw thing like "Terrible Food and "Terrible Customer Service" although, I said to myself "Lets give this company the benefit of the doubt, maybe they have changed the way they run their business due to all of the complaints", Although, when I had received my starter I was very disappointed. I had ordered a samosa dish and all I received was 2 Sainsburys packet of samosas. The samosas was not fresh at all and it tasted very bland.

I gave the company another chance thinking to myself that maybe the main dish will be better than the starter, to my surprise I had received the most tantalising dish I have ever seen in my life. The curry sauce was sizzling and the lamb looked very fresh, I took a bite and it was the best curry I have ever had in my life, the sauce was so nice that all of my family tried to eat from my plate. It was a very nice dish and i'd rate it a 5 star.

The reason I would give this experience a 4 star is because of the starter which I had previously explained was not up to my standards.

I do recommend eating here as I believe this company has changed their ways because as I read the reviews it said that there was terrible customer service and I believe the staff was very kind, they are a little impatient which may show to a lot of people who are not used to such culture.

This review was not made to discourage the company, I made this review to re-assure people about this restaurant and how it has changed.

Also, another thing is that I keep seeing the owner of the restaurant responding to negative reviews very rudely. My only advice is not to respond to people's reviews in such manner saying that their personal opinion is 'quote' "Childish" ect.

Anyways, I hope who ever reading this is re-assured about all of these comments because I do believe this company...

The restaurant have men standing outside to usher you in as they want you eat there. However once in, it's all a rush to get you out. The man was very annoyed at the fact we asked where the toilet was when he was seating us. (Only 1 in the restaurant so you have to wait around until its free.) The first things we noticed was there was no air con & the prices were outrageous. The restaurant is too small and the waiters push your chair as they walk past by & give you dirty looks. We ordered the meat platter and paneer to start. They lacked salt and flavour. Absolutely no spice. When the waiter came to ask what if everything was OK, we told him there was no flavour & all the meat was dry & tough. He nodded his head & ignored us and asked to clear our plates even though they were still full. We were then rushed to order mains and within a few minutes they were on the table. Not really giving fresh vibes tbh. The dhansaak sauce was too sweet & the chicken was dry and lacked flavour again. The keema rice was very dry. The puri was greasy and oily. The meat samosas tasted like they were fried in old oil. Nothing was edible. My friend had to run to the toilet to throw up as the food was bad. Once again the waiter came & asked if everything was OK with the food. When I told him everything that was wrong with the food & that my friend was vomiting in the toilet. He didn't care and began clearing the full plates of food again. He also nodded his head like he knew the food was bad. He bought the bill without asking & also saw my friend leave the restaurant because she was so sick & didn't offer any discounts or apologies. This restaurant was a shambles. Clueless as to how they have such high reviews. They food was terrible & service worse. "Best in Brick Lane" is all over their shop window. But it is the worst place I have ever been too. Avoid at all costs! Update: I was ill the...

Tldr, inauthentic flavours, false (paid) reviews, sky-high prices for what it is, not award winning at all. We booked here using The Fork and had a 40% discount, the bill for 2 came up to £42 after the discount. We had a ceylon lamb curry, madras chicken curry, palak paneer, naan, and pilau rice. The good thing was that service was good. Most of the reviews here mention that in exchange for a 5 star rating, you get a discount and or free drinks? I suppose this place is excellent with its marketing in this way... NOT award winning curry, everything was so catered to British taste buds it should be called a British curry house tbh. Palak paneer was terribly sweet which is a first. The chicken in the madras curry was all breast and thus very dry and limp, unfortunately. The ceylon held up well but as I said, does not reflect authentic flavours at all. It was all a mishmash or flavours, confusing. Naans were great! It was BOILING HOT in the restaurant despite it being a wintery night, both of us needed to get out for some air ASAP! It was a tight squeeze even just to get seated the next table had to be moved. The bill took awhile to arrive and did not expect to pay that amount after the discount, yikes! Can't imagine paying full price for this meal. Would not recommend coming here, go to another one on the same road, lots of other options that have better food, better price, and better atmosphere.

We visited last night, having booked as we were staying nearby. On arrival we were greeted and quickly led to our table, an extensive menu placed in front of us and poppadoms & chutneys followed soon after. Thr chutneys and raita were tasty but the food that followed was wonderful. The rice fluffy, the naan pillow and light and the curries both excuisite. I went for a lamb tikka mint korai which was flavourful and tender, with just a little kick. My wife opted for a balti chicken dopiaza which she says has ruined other curries for her as it was so good. We fell into conversation with a gent eating solo at the next table who knew all the staff well and he said he had been visiting for years, I totally understand why! Before leaving we were given a complimentary shot of our choice (we opted for tequila) and had already decided we will be back on our next trip to London!

First of all, if you haven't had a walk down Brick Lane, you will never feel more special. Secondly, if you haven't tried Brick Lane Brasserie, you're missing out. Shahed and the boys really know how to treat you like royalty. The amazing 4 course meal we had is proof of why they've won so many awards. We started with Cashew Nut Rolls and Meat Samosa - light but enough to whet your appetite for the amazing Curry dishes that followed. I had the Lamb Tikka Masala and my wife had the Vegetable Curry. We almost never leave a restaurant with our plates completely finished but we were practically licking them clean here. The Pillaw Rice and Garlic Naan were a perfect compliment to the mains. We finished with a Mango Lassi which completed a great evening. This was the best way to put a button on our honeymoon and we will certainly be back when we return to London.
