Stella has passed me a Google review QR code ⦠and this is one of those times when Iām genuinely delighted to give a positive review.
Iāve been fortunate to be served by Stella (sheās brilliant) and the team over the years as this is my āgo toā when I have time at Paddington Station.
The venue has a certain ācharmā (the very convenient little escalator that takes you straight off the platform and directly to the bar always makes me smile) and you have the option to sit on the atrium balcony (Iāve definitely oversold that feature š), but the people and the atmosphere they create are the reason Iāve been coming back for years. Some years I may only come here maybe 3 or 4 times, but I always feel welcome! Quite amazing really and I donāt get that feeling in any equivalent place.
Donāt expect a rocking Irish Pub, but considering the transient nature and irregularity of customers, it has an unusual vibe ⦠and great people watching (most keep to themselves, and I guess waiting for a train, and Iām obviously one of them) ⦠itās quirky and feels locked-in-time somehow?!
Make sure you ask if Stella is there and say Hi ⦠she will appreciate...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI haven't even had my food yet but I already need to leave a review. Had to wait a while at the bar to be served and when we eventually got service we were told that we couldn't have cocktails because the guy that does cocktails isn't working today. Why isn't there contingency for this?! And if there isn't contingency don't put them on the menu. Following this, the guy took our food order, nodded vacantly all the way through and then had to take it again later on. When we ordered drinks, my colleague ordered a whiskey. The guy stood in front of his array of drinks staring blankly around evidently not having a clue what whiskey was. He had to go out the back and grab his female colleague and then asked us what whiskey was preferred. After telling him Haig Club he then stood in front of the Haig Club staring around and it was not until I told him it was the blue bottle in front of his nose that he realised. The same went when I ordered a rum and coke, he couldn't find the rum until I told him where it was and I don't even work here?! Already a shocking customer experience so I hope the food...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSadly I have to agree with the other reviewers here. I was thinking; on a Saturday afternoon, why are there not alot more people in the bar?! I now understand why. Burger certainly wasn't worth what I paid for it and I probably would have got a better burger from Burger King. Not sure if they have deliberately put their location in the wrong part of Paddington Station due to their woeful reviews. Not sure I totally agree that staff are bad tempered; just not very good - when you are in an empty bar and its not busy at all, I shouldn't wait more than 5 minutes service at the bar! I would certainly recommend you go almost anywhere else for a quick beer while waiting for the train. Bring in a Young's pub - they'll kick this place into shape and probably start turning a profit with...
