What happened to this place? I've been visiting Cafe Zee for the past 5 years and I've been through all it's phases, but this latest one is just baffling. The food is simple and therefore shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes to be prepared, yet we where there this past Saturday waiting for eggs benedict for 40 minutes. Unless they drove to the farm and got the eggs right at that point, 40 minutes is an surreal amount of time. And it wasn't even that good! I'm guessing they switched over from actual hollandaise to standrad boxed hollandaise. The cake section is just depressing to me. Tasteless and uninspiring. Basically a bunch of different brownies that taste the same but have different toppings, never looking that fresh and always leave something to be desired. I don't believe the management is reading these reviews, but here goes nothing. Please, hire actual cooks because you guys were at the pinnacle 3 years ago and for whatever reason you've been spiraling out of control and you're knocking on Costa territory. There was this couple of incredible chefs that worked there for a long time. An Irish lass who did amazing comforting and quality food and a Greek guy with American accent who was doing incredible cakes and cookies. Just get a couple of people like them because you won't be able to bounce back from "just having food". The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one, is because the front of house staff has been increasingly better after the re-opening and the coffee is decent if prepared by a person who knows how to make coffee. The Italian guy and the blonde girl with the glasses always serve quality. The other blonde girl, not so much. By the way this is my third review of this store, and it went from 5 stars, to 3 stars and now 2 stars. I hope this reaches to someone because at this point...
Read moreNot sure what happened to this place but with so many people out of a job in the hospitality industry, you would expect a cafe’ would do its best to employ staff that can manage taking an order and monitor their footfall. Especially when the cafe’ isnt even huge. I walked in and asked for a table. I was told to go and sit down and someone would come take my order. 10 minutes later I discover that it’s not the case. I get up to order (I am alone) and while ordering, staff throws away (in the bin!!! Without even checking if someone would come back for it!!!) my notebook and pen that I left on the table. It makes me wonder what would have happened had I left my handbag at the table. My order consisted of a large skinny mocha and a slice of cheesecake. The same person that told me incorrectly to take a seat and wait to be served asks “ cheesecake or brownie cheesecake?” I point at the item in the window, I say “cheesecake “ she repeats “proper cheesecake then”. I nod. When I get back to the table, already aggravated by being told to seat and wait incorrectly, and then having to get my notebook and pen retrieved from a food bin with half an apology from the waitress... I sigh when the cheesecake brownie slice turns up... which I send back. My coffee follows 5 minutes later...and it’s regular not large. At this point I have given up and accept it as “large” without questioning it. I tuck into my cheesecake when I eventually get it, which is really lovely, only to find some kind of green stuff on its side...like from a dirty knife used for some kind of green leaf veg. I wish I could get the manager of this place to live thru this shamble without having to sound like a crazy person: I just wanted coffee and cake!!! Such a shame though because the coffee and the...
Read moreIF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A CAFE WITH A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT, this place ISN’T the one (and I say this with passion - hence the caps lock lol). After having a little look around, seems like a lot of people on here feel the same - especially about the race/ discrimination.
Such a shame, for a cafe with such pleasing interior & nice food only to be let down by its employees doesn’t the owner/ manager care??
First visit, we got served by a tall blonde lady who at the very start was SO dismissive and for some reason has a phobia of eye contact? Lol looking in a different direction while serving me just overall just had that “i dont wanna be here” attitude. And then later on, I asked the guy barista (short guy, dark hair and wears glasses) for a glass of water and pointed out that it was on the countertop (but somebody clearly forgot to re-fill that section - as it wasn’t there!) and just basically served me with some attitude like I asked for something so drastic.
Second visit - we decided to visit again (shocking!) ONLY purely because of the food and AGAIN the service was just as the same. Tall guy with dark hair with a sweater saw us walking out and NOT EVEN a thank you whatsoever. Also, their masala chai was disgusting sorry to say, tasted like it came from a packet but chai latte was nice.
I was considering giving a 2 star⭐️ for the food BUT this goes to show that experience matters more sometimes. The only welcoming or friendly person there is probably the lady who delivers the food thats it!
Never going back here again and don’t recommend it to anybody. Dear owner, do better at training your staff about customer service - especially in a place like EALING, where competition...
