Went to get lunch for my boss and myself. At till point I paid x2 meals with cash and mine I was going to pay with credit card. The waitress was not very friendly and said they don't accept card for less then I think £15-£20. I can't remember. I was in a hurry too. So I said I'll pay the £1 or whatever they charge for card transaction. she was not having it. Infact she goes pay pay an extra £7 which would cover the minimum. I'm like I've bought food worth £30 can't you just do it as I do not have time to go to cash point. She said its cash only and just ignored me. She was like a wall. Bad customer service and made me feel not well come. My boss ordered from there few times but now he stopped. So I said to her here take the takeaway back for me which I do not have cash for as you leave me no option. She looked at me in shock and took it. I walked out without buying lunch for me and late back to work. Basically, she was willing to throw away the food she packed for me and waste their money yet she didn't want to take my card payment and charge me the fee for a card transaction??? This is in Mayfair, one of the wealthiest areas of london and makes a fuss about card payment. Ridiculous!! I'm ashamed to know such places exist in Mayfair. Never going again. I don't have time for unkind staff. She could have been nicer which would have made up not accepting my card. Saying that the food looks amazing and as soon as you go in a lovely waitress take your order while you queue...
Read morea very average experience , the food was good, lasagna and green beans, well cooked and tasty , and a latte , decent portion size for lunch , however the experience was let down by the staff the waitress is ok , quite loud and friendly upon arrival , but after bringing the food , she never came back to ask anything , nor to clean the table nor to ask if I wanted anything else , I would have had a cake to finish, but she couldn't be bothered to make an effort so I couldn't be bothered to order more ... The price is also on the high side £22 for lasagne , beans and coffee... and finally the was young family in the restaurant , now when they were leaving the kid 3 or 4 years old started to have a fit and scream and shout , and the parents being modern woken idiots instead of taking control and pulling the kid into line let it play up for 10-15 minutes , much to the annoyance of everyone else .. now after about 5 mins of this the staff should have stepped in and asked the parents either to leave or to control their kid as they were disrupting the cafe, and apologised to the rest of us, but of course this didn't not happen .. it was totally beyond to the staff to take any sort of action at all.. Very poor and spoiled what could have been a decent lunch , probably won't be back after that ,.. poor overall service and management , food although good priced high for what it is , No tip left...
Read moreOrdinarily I would give this cafe 4 stars, it's getting 3 stars as I have previously been a big fan but its service has gone seriously down hill. I'm not a big fan of using review sites to complain but there is no email address or website to contact the management.
In the last 3 months the service at Caffè Inn has declined. I have been visiting about once every month for the last 2 years and the food is consistently good, although a little pricey. The service has been generally good. On todays visit I ordered the fishcake with choice of two salads. I was ignored for about 10 minutes before ordering and when my food arrived one of my salad choices was wrong. What really made me cross was the portion size, or lack of it. £13.50 for a good sized plateful of food seemed OK to me on previous visits but today it was about half the size and when I asked the waitress if the portions had been changed or prices changed and if I could have more, she said a firm no on all counts. Not impressed. It then took 2 attempts to pay my bill and it was not busy. My card was tapped without asking. On recent visits I have noticed the service being slower than usual. I called to see if I could reserve a table for breakfast a few weeks ago and was spoken to as though I was a total moron, rather than politely being told no.
Dear Caffè Inn Management please do something about this! I'll miss my fishcakes...
