PROS This place has been such a special find for really great vegan pastries and croissant sandwiches at reasonable prices. The croissants are fluffy, the smoked carrots & lemon cashew cheese is nice, the Nduja balances the vegan Bree really well, and the vegan Bree really does taste like Bree! The olive focaccia is amazing as well. CONS The kind service that I received my first few visits kept me coming back, however I’m dropping what would’ve been 5 stars to 3 stars because of the blonde barista who works on Sundays. She’s been incredibly rude to me the 2 Sundays I’ve visited, seemingly annoyed to take my orders. The one time she made the 2 croissant sandwiches I ordered for takeaway, she barely put any of the ingredients in them (and still charged full price). I thought she was just having a bad day, but the second time, I noticed that she was rather friendly to the 4 or so customers who walked in after me. This makes me think that she could be prejudiced against people of color, which will inevitably reduce the business you get from me (and other people of color for that matter) until she grows up and treats EVERYONE the way she wants to be treated. She was also a bit rude to the barista working with her that day, whom I could tell was embarrassed by her behavior, but chose not to say anything (although she was at least nice to me).

Beautiful spot to sit in and enjoy a cafe experience. Charles Artisan Bread can become better with a few adjustments: better service & work ethic, small tweaks to improving food & drinks and create a comfier atmosphere. In warm weather, it becomes stuffy and unbearable to stay here, there is no air-condition or fan. The lady that served me was helpful. But she did not smile once throughout the entire day, seemed down/stressed which made me hesitant to approach her for anything. I do not usually order coffee but the lady seemed unhappy to help or explain to me. I ended up quickly ordering to avoid any stress. Iced-latte was great and affordable! Loved the drink and was very refreshing - the pastry however, was very dry and plain. I bought a cheese-olive pastry which had very small filling with few olives. WiFi was strong however, you could get a lot of work done. At the end of the day, the lady offered free carrot cake - this was the best carrot cake I had! Still she did not seem happy to do anything. Thank you though.

We love the Charles Artisan Bakery in Clapton so we were pleasantly surprised to find this location right next time the Olympic Park! Such a lovely (massive) space. Lots of tables to work and comfy chairs to chill. As always this place has a lot of really great vegan options. We opted for a cheese bun and peach Danish with two flat white (one with Oatly and one with Sproud). Served very hot but tasted great. Would have lots if the cheese bun was heated up a bit but we actually didn't ask if this was possible. Lots of yummy knick-knacks around as well (nut butters, vegan cheese, jam, etc.). This would be such a nice place to come to with friends after cycling in the velodrome (across the street).

Ridiculously rude staff. The younger woman behind the till seemed like she was new and hadn’t gotten proper training. When she started struggling with the tablet, her coworker (who I assume is meant to be training her) pushed her aside to take our order. That older coworker was very unfriendly towards my dad and made him feel like she didn’t understand his accent. The way she handled the confusion about the right order could have been approached less sassy and belittling and made a lack of customer service skills quite evident.

Food and drink were very good, hence the two stars.

I would not go here again though. Especially coming from a customer service background, seeing people who are in training being treated without respect and patience is an...
