Seems to me Jino has been there forever. I will have to agree with Sadaf Sultani's review my last disastrous time was in 2015 and since then I'm glad I didn't go back. Same things have happened to me such as Sadaf Sultani's review incident. I was a loyal customer even going on dead days where no one would be around, I cannot forget that November in 2015 it was a disaster. For my friends birthday we had booked. I'm so surprised that same Jino is there, he is somewhat tall, the owner is lovely but the management and experience of that 1 night changed everything and since I've been going to other lovely places and spending my money there. I even used to send my friends there recommend them to Ciros pizza pomodoro. They do that deliberately they book your table and then few days before or on the actual day they (staff and it is communicated by Jino) will say oh so we can only give that table for £60 minimum per person. My eyes widened and my heart dropped because we don't make that kind of money. Money doesn't grow on trees the way the restaurant thinks.
So after we made our plans we were asked to pay this £60 or else we will lose the table !! Oh dear which meant we would have to stand in that cramped place and there is no way we would function for a party as we needed to eat dinner - it was impossible in that tiny cramped basement restaurant to stand ! No way and the girls came especially for the Sunday live music as it's only unique for that 1 day a week night italian and Arab pop.
The worse thing I had done was put that front table in my name for 10 girls on a Sunday night a very busy Italian and Arab live music night and it did get packed. You can't even move in there it really was extremely packed just on Sundays but the tradition had been going on for decades and is still continuing till this date that weekend Sunday tradition, the Elvis night, mexican night etc
Once I arrived I was told by Jino it'll be £60 minimum pay each. I was distraught and we couldn't cancel as table was booked for a birthday celebration and all the girls had turned up we couldn't even say no we don't want it as birthday girl would have been upset for sudden change of plans, this was the tactic of the staff to take advantage of us financially.
The girls don't drink so nobody ordered any alcohol just food and it was so unfair on them to have to pay for a £60 bill capacity and as the table was in my name I had to cover the remaining bill.
It was no way possible to order food and drinks for £60 for each and every girl they wouldn't even have the capacity to consume any of it that night.
That shock of bill price and I had paid a huge amount really set me back as I didn't have a full time job as a very young girl, I vowed never to return and never to recommend to anybody. Nevertheless the birthday girl felt so bad she made it up to me by cooking me frequent delicious foods at her home.
I cannot agree with paying something which I didnt consume, I ended up paying these greedy people that night other customers didn't pay this because we all talk and all share the gossip.
That was in 2015 now I see by reading latest reviews this still exists ! No wonder why the restaurant is dead as they cheating loyal regular customers horrible of them to take advantage of us that night just because we had a birthday celebration. Well lesson was learned since then I never took responsibility of booking a big group friends event ever again
Now I still enjoy other restaurants in the area London and abroad.
I even wrote to them and they flat right ignored me and didn't get back to me. Well if they didn't do that to me that night I'd still be going there and bringing friends for years on end till now even on dead days like Monday Tuesday Wednesday trust me many times I've seen it empty and also I've heard it's empty and people have stopped going. In Ramadan they would be completely dead but I still went and bought my friends and look at what they did to me took advantage of us fuelled by their...
Read moreSo this place is very particular about their booking policies So I booked this restaurant on the 8th Oct for the 28th Oct however our circumstances changed so I cancelled the booking on the 14th Oct a week later and two weeks before the reservation date. At the time of booking the restaurant took £40 deposit which they tried to retain saying its a non refundable amount no matter if you cancel or not. I told my husband £40 is alot of money and that we should ask if we can change the date of the reservation rather than loosing the deposit, so he did...he emailed the headoffice about changing the date of the reservation to use up the deposit. We went to the restaurant and the food i cannot fault was amazing but the service was the opposite. We had a child so they put us in the corner away from the rest of the customers. it was literally (dirty dancing..baby in the corner) When I asked to sit near the fish tank as my daughter really wanted to sit by the fish they said no as the reservation was till 8.30. the world cup football was on and tho they were showing it on the screen we watched it on our phone being in the corner, maybe punished for having a child with us I do not know. The fun began when the bill came and they did not deduct the £40 from the bill so it took a full 40 mins to proof between 5 menbers of staff and a lot of photos taken to proof the email was agreed that £40 was taken and headoffice agreed to let us rebook by now it was 9.10 and we was suppose to give up our table at 8.30 and my daughter really just wanted her bed. After explaining how I cancelled the booking two weeks before giving plenty of time to refill the booking I asked why they retained the £40 deposit. ITS COMPANY POLICY!! You mean the company are being greedy to take money from people for no reason as you obviously fulfil that booking considering how busy they are. After the 5th waitress/I dont know what her role was, but her name is Lina something she said "do not book here again" my simple response was if you didnt steal from me I wouldnt book again. The only reason I booked again was because the restaurant took £40 deposit and I am sorry for me that is not a small amount that paid almost 50% of our bill if I didnt pay service charge which i should have refused too considering we spent so long trying to resolve the payment of the meal. When it came to payment Lina bought over a credit card machine that was declining our cards despite funds being available and blamed us for our cards. when she bought a new machine it cleared straight away so clearly there was no issue with our card but their machine. In light of what happened we are not short of Italian restaurants in London and I will not be booking this place again as per Lina advice. I still stand by the chef his food was amazing but the staff the restaurant should really rethink as they all say we just work here but no one wants to take actual responsibility apart from Lina who believes its ok to take someones money even if they cancelled 2 weeks before. As I told the manager I totally understand retaining my money if I cancelled 24 hours before as you cannot cancel staff and stock but two weeks before gives you plenty of opportunity to plan ahead why you take a customer money I do not understand!! ITS...
