Mantl is a gorgeous Turkish restaurant in Knightsbridge. However, you wouldn’t know you’d just stepped off busy Brompton Road as you head inside. Its relaxed atmosphere is radiated through its sophisticated minimalist interior with slate tiles, woods, blacks and greys complimented with metallics and low hanging filament bulbs. It’s a great spot.
Service was next level from the minute we stepped inside. Full of recommendations and always on hand, yet not overbearing. Every table was getting this VIP service from the whole team, including the manager Typhoon. Service really is everything and this was amazing to see all around us.
We opted for one cocktail and one mocktail. The Green Destiny Mocktail (£6.50) was lightly fizzing and really refreshing. Consisting of Agave Syrup, Lime Juice, Cucumber, Mint and Soda Water, it was delicious with just a touch of zing or sourness.
The Anatolian Queen 12 (£12), with Gin, Pear Liqueur, Almond Syrup, Lime Juice and bitters, was a fantastic gin cocktail! It was light, sweet yet slightly tart, and absolutely delicious.
The food menu is focused on traditional Turkish cuisine, showcasing the heritage and authentic flavours but often with a contemporary twist. There is a wide selection of starters, both hot and cold, with plenty of meat and veggie options.
We started with the Hummus (from the cold starters) (£7) topped with granola and served with fresh, warm bread. We also opted for the Chargrilled octopus (£12) with Mung beans, kapia peppers and dill golden apple.
The Chargrilled Octopus was a recommendation by one of the team, and we could tell why. It was beautifully cooked and meaty, not chewy. The bed of a la dente Mung beans, kapia peppers and dill golden apple, was fresh and went perfectly with the octopus. The hummus was creamy and flavoursome and the crunchy granola was delicious giving the dish extra texture.
On to the mains there are plenty of meat options but they do only have one veggie option and two fish options. The fish option was fantastic – The Fillet of Seabass (£22) was cooked so well. It was light, elegant and delicious. Great with the fresh side salad.
The Hand Cut Chips (£5) were triple cooked with thyme and rock salt were amazing. Crisp yet fluffy and super tasty – we do love a herby chip! The mains are big, but those chips did make a great side.
We also tried the Gentle Ali (£22), another recommendation from the team. With the menu stating smoked eggplant, kapia peppers, lamb fillet and yoghurt, we weren’t sure how it woulld arrive or what it would taste like. However, we can tell you, it was dreamy! The lamb was tender, pink inside and so rich in flavour. The yoghurt base with the smoked eggplant and kapia peppers was a fantastic accompaniment. It was creamy and thick, and drizzled with the spiced oil – just heavenly.
We were struggling for space after so much food but Typhoon was dying for us to try two traditional desserts to finish our feast. We can say now, you NEED to save space for these.
The Baklava Mantl Style (£9) was larger than we have ever had previously, and not quite as compact. It had the flakiest pastry, and a superb pistachio puree in the middle. The ice cream was dreamy – more like a melted marshmallow texture and super creamy. So much better than British ice cream.
The Kanafeh (£8) was just as good. Made with super thin noodle strands of pastry wrapped round a nutty centre it was served with a milk. It did almost resemble a shredded wheat texture, but was seriously yummy. Both desserts really impressed.
We had such an amazing evening at Mantl turkish restaurant in Knightsbridge. The service was amazing all-round and the food was incredible – we loved every dish we tried. We really enjoyed both the alcoholic cocktail and the mocktail to accompany such a feast. This really is a gem...
Read moreHaving visited this restaurant more than three years and knowing that is a family run business that staff are curious towards each other and respectful and its not a commercial names just trading on their name. We visited with family on a busy Saturday evening as the road is extremely busy due to the newly opened Turkish cafeterias in the area but Mantl has been established in Knightsbridge and in London area as one of the best Turkish restaurants to offer fine dinning. During our visits in the past and Saturday we were greeted by Miss. Nazi one of the waitresses that always has a smile and is courteous to delivering very good customer service. It was like been treated as to be welcomed to a traditional Turkish home that the hospitality and level of detail to customers is like traditional Istanbul area if you dine out in that area. Miss Nazi was always at hand to see how our meal was and if we needed anything. The food was fresh and all meats (Lamb chop and steak) juicy and full of flavour and very well presented. It was pleasant eating it with the various range of cocktails. The Bar man brings the various cocktails to the table and explains which is which and has traditional Turkish flavours. We will definitely visit again and bring our guests especially knowing that the restaurant has excellent hygiene and they will be looked after by staff. Even if you have to travel from the other side of London. The visit will be worthwhile. As there are so many Turkish grill restaurants popping up every where in London but this is not comparable to them if you give attention to detail and is important that what you put in your body and to have a nice dinning experience especially this stan an edge that restaurants are not regulated what they put on their tables. I'm very happy that they are opening another Mantl in the commercial area of Bursa in Turkeye which will be good to visit and we can recommend to friends and family. Best of luck for the restaurant we wish them all the best.

Read moreWhen we go to eat we tend to order loads of starters rather than the traditional 1 starter and main each. That's what we did here. It allows us to taste more of the menu, get more for our money and good left overs for tomorrow lunch.
Charred Aubergine £8 Grilled Prawns £12 Manti £8 Pulled lamb hummus £9
Mac N cheese £5 Tripple cooked chips £5
Adana £18
Apple juice £5 Nargile Swing £8
I don't eat hummus that much, but Mrs HFG does and I'm glad she got this pulled lamb hummus dish because it was absolutely delicious!
I remember the Adana being amazing when I first tried it and it set the bar high for any Adana kebebs I had after that. This adana wasn't as good as I remember from my 1st visit, it was still very good nevertheless, packed full of flavour and cooked perfectly so it wasn't dry.
The mac N cheese was another favourite as to the grilled prawns which were fantastic.
My Nargile Swing drink was made with Strawberry, maple syrup, lemon juice and egg white.. Yes egg white. I liked this and better than over sweet standard fruit Mocktails.
For dessert I got the MILK KADAYIF a dish I again had on my 1st visit and never found in any other restaurant since. Its like a milk cake meets Shemai (Sweet Vermicelli) I love it. The lady for a chocolate foudant both £9. But as it was our wedding anniversary the restaurant gave it to us on the...
