Good food, great table service while we were doing the pub quiz. The quiz itself was one of the oddest experiences and seemed to be the product of two overconfident lads thinking that running a quiz takes no skill or any level of decorum. They repeatedly called everyone motherfers for talking, told guests (and each other) to shut up, occasionally called everyone cs, for what I deem to be pretty normal pub behaviour (talking! If someone talks and misses the next question, who cares? that's on them). The flow of the quiz itself was very disjointed. In the middle of the sports round we had music questions where they played songs, and in the actual music round they played no music! They repeatedly read out the wrong answers as a 'joke' which got very tiresome very quickly, and some answers they actually had written down completely wrong and had to be corrected by participants.
I genuinely feel like both of the guys actually have a lot of potential, there's lots of energy, the actual questions themselves were good questions. But they definitely need to be more professional and organised. They crossed the line from fun and quirky to rude and arrogant. You aren't talking to a room of friends at the end of the day, we are all strangers. I'm sure with a little bit of reflection and introspection they can get where they need to be, it's just a case of whether they will be able to take on this feedback or dismiss me...
Read moreAfter walking past this pub for a while, I thought I’ll take the family for a Sunday roast. We ordered the ultimate roast- should have been called the disappointing roast. Had 3 pieces of carrots, 1 pork belly, 2 bland chicken and about 3-4 slices of beef, 4 potatoes , 2 dry Yorkshire puddings, Lumpy gravy, bland cabbage, some leek looking condiments and another condiments. The pork was the only thing enjoyable and hot .I could not eat the beef , was so chewy, kept getting stuck in my teeth partner said could have been a bad cut. I ordered my own plate as I felt the portion was not enough, had the beef again and the same thing, barely ate the rest, told the waitress who suggested having something else. At that point I said no. Would have thought they would remove it off the bill seeing that after trying the beef, I did not eat anything else. I would not suggest here for their Sunday roast, the food was cold, very bland, small portions for the price and quantity is very scarce. The pub itself is lovely, lovely decor, toilets clean and the staff were nice. I would return only for drinks. Disappointed, as some reviews...
Read moreBooked a table here for a birthday party. An hour before we were due to arrive they phoned to say they had decided to close the kitchen because they had a large Christmas party they wanted to prioritise. When we arrived they said they had decided to cancel our booking completely and didn’t have a table for us. After arguing with them they did get a table for us but we still couldn’t eat. We asked if we could order food in as they decided last minute not to offer any, but they said it’s against their policy. Although cancelling people’s birthday parties less than an hour before they arrive apparently isn’t against policy! To end the night we had an aggressive bouncer yell at us to finish our drinks quicker and told us to f-off. This was over 15 mins before the stated closing time. It’s a shame because it’s a nice pub but the experience was ruined. If you are considering booking an event here I highly recommend reconsidering and look...
