It saddens me to give this place 3 stars because the food was fantastic but unfortunately the service we received warrants an average rating. We booked a table ahead of time for 2 people and requested we sit outside as the weather was nice - they confirmed this would be fine. Upon arrival we were seated indoors and when I stated we’d booked a table outside the host simply said there weren’t any tables available. I’m unsure what the point in making a reservation is if our requests can’t be met. The host said as soon as an outdoor table were to become available that they would offer it to us. Inside we were sat at a table which was so sticky that everything stuck to the table. I literally had to rip my wine glass off of the table. My paper napkin ripped in half when trying to pick it up. We then waited 25 minutes before someone came over to take our drinks order, despite repeatedly trying to get someone’s attention. Aside from ourselves, there was 1 other occupied table inside. One. Food then arrived - and this can’t be faulted, it was delicious. The garlic prawns and the patatas bravas with chorizo were outstanding. Later on a table became available outside, nobody offered it to us despite our protests earlier so we just got up and moved there ourselves. At the end of the evening the staff came around to take payment and advised “we are closing in 30 minutes” so we settled up and - no word of a lie - 6 minutes later - they turned off all of the lights and music and as my friend and I sat there finishing our wine a staff member stood behind us and watched us intently until we got up and left. I appreciate they were closing but don’t give us a 30 minute warning when you’re actually trying to kick us out 6 minutes later. Come for the food but don’t expect much else. I personally won’t return.

Review: I recently booked a table for 5 for a special celebration dinner with friends, but unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations. Upon arrival, we were directed to a table that wasn’t even set up, and we had to ask the staff to prepare it, which was disappointing as we were ready to start our meal. Additionally, the restaurant failed to inform us in advance that they didn’t have an alcohol license or the usual entertainment that was a big part of why I had chosen this place. While the staff were friendly and genuinely apologetic, this lack of communication meant we had to change our plans at the last minute and head elsewhere. It’s a shame that such basic information wasn’t communicated, as it would have allowed us to plan differently and enjoy our evening without disruption.

We wanted some fresh Spanish food and this place was perfect, all the dishes were delicious and very tasty. The restaurant is spacious with terrace, well ventilated. We just had a bad experience because of another customer, I’m pregnant and it was a very hot day, unfortunately they don’t have AC so they put a fan, this man started an argument over the fan with my husband that was explaining him my situation, he even came to our table and said his woman that was in her 60+ was pregnant too, I understand is not the staff fault but no one got involved and it could ended differently. Removing that incident the rest was fine but we will not come back after that lame experience.

I recently dined at La Terraza Restaurant on Clapham High Street, hoping for an authentic Spanish culinary experience, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations in several ways.

The food at La Terraza was average at best. While the menu boasted a variety of traditional Spanish dishes, the flavors did not stand out. The tapas lacked the rich, authentic taste I was anticipating.

The service left much to be desired. Our waiter (same one than we had in La Rueda restaurant not long ago) was not very professional, displaying a lack of attention to detail and a somewhat dismissive attitude. To make matters worse, he charged us for double portions on most of our orders without informing us. This inflated our bill that we trust and paid (thankfully we realised and waitress refund is the repeated dishes). It was frustrating to feel taken advantage of in this way.

However, not all aspects of the service were poor. The waitress who attended to us for part of the evening was a saving grace. She was kind, attentive, and professional, making us feel welcome and addressing our concerns with genuine care. Her efforts were appreciated and stood in stark contrast to the rest of the service experience.

Overall, La Terraza has potential, but it needs significant improvements in both food quality and service standards. The restaurant's ambiance is pleasant, and it could become a go-to spot for Spanish cuisine in Clapham with the right changes. However, as it stands, I would hesitate to recommend it based on my...
