It was good. So why only 2 stars?

The people serving were nice... the food and coffee is good. All very fine stuff... but:

I absolutely resent a business that sticks on a 12.5% service fee automatically without asking. Let me, [the customer] decide whether I am tipping and exactly how much I want to tip.

It is so arrogant and presumptuous to put that on without any query. Turns out a section on the menu "warns you" of this impending hidden fee, but I'm focusing on eggs and bacon and the numerical prices written next to those items, not reading a note about a mandatory percentage add on. Let me just get my calculator out before I order shall I?

If the argument to include this hidden fee is that this is for the employees good service, the business should be paying them more, not just sticking that extra cost on to the consumer. Just pay your staff a fair wage!

Further, if the argument is "you don't have to pay it, it's optional, we can take it off your bill if you really want us to", then that's a cop out, becayse they know very well that absolutely no one is going to say to a server's face, "no, take that tip off". It should indeed be optional, so just wait for ME to make that choice myself. Don't just lift the money out of my pocker while I'm eating and then half-heartedly hand it back to me going "oh, sorry, was this yours?"

I don't mean to sound tight, but times are hard so carefully calculating the cost of occasionally treating yourself to some lunch is a tricky business and the practise of auto-tipping here really stinks. This isn't America and only certain businesses are taking advantage of people by doing this. Be up front. Up your menu prices so consumers can get an honest look at what their meal will cost them.

So, a nice experience and good food, ruined by being duped and misled by the prices on the menu. I won't be visiting again. (Which perhaps they'll be glad of after this, who knows!) It was all very nice, but I'd advise hitting the local honest cafs...

This is the first time ever i leave the public review and it’s a shame that’s because of the most ā€˜unpleasant’ experience. It is so disappointing because i’ve been to hopper several times (even two days ago) never had this unpleasant encounter.

I received my food and drink at 10:50am, and i paid and left at 11:31am because i was asked to empty the table and leave.

While i was still having my drink, the guy with purple buzz cut hairstyle came to our table and asked us to empty the table when we’re done and i asked ā€˜i’m still drinking my coffee. You mean, right now?’ And he said ā€˜Yeah, like in a few minutes when you’re done’.

There were still two empty tables in the cafes and people who stayed longer than us, enjoying there time. So the question is, why did he have to come to our table and ask to leave when we’re done. (i would understand better if he did to other customers too).

When i complaint on this matter, he wasn’t apologetic but saying ā€˜i said when you’re done. I didn’t say you had to leave. So I don’t know why you’re doing this to me.’ Also mentioned, it is per price, and that’s why other tables were not asked to leave.

Well, it is a common sense to leave the cafe of course when i am done. But it is not a common thing to ask when the customer who was eating/drinking in the cafe only for 40 MINUTES and there’s empty tables, other customers staying longer.

That purple hair server seemed to not understand why i would feel unpleasant of what he asked, because he think he only asked to leave when we’re done. Not we HAD TO leave. But as a former Barista, and customer, i know that it was a very poor customer service and for some reason, he did want us to leave the cafe.

Just really hope this wasn’t some form of any...

This place is probably serving the best breakfast in South London. The space is clean, buzzing with energy and good coffee ( I’m Italian, from Naples, and I can recognise a great coffee when I taste or smell one), and serving the nicest breakfast in the most pleasant environment. The service is very good and friendly, they treat everybody as if they are long lost friends waiting to catch up since ages, and the quality of their Eggs Royale ( my favourite breakfast thing to order ) is outstanding. They also serve a very good full English breakfast and some variations they you can build up as you please. The avocado on toast is also really good, the wu as lot of everything they cook is just beyond your average breakfast spot. Special mention also to the sausage rolls, if they are not sold out you must get whatever they have on display they are a cut above any other sausage roll you tasted before. Lastly, even the choice of waters is good with San Pellegrino and Evian, 2 of my all time favourites. During the weekend there is always a queue, so I suggest either to go early or late or to ho midweek when it is still busy but there are no...

We dis brunch over the weekend - make a reservation - and they were kind enough to accommodate us at a table that was finished. The space is nice, rustic/industrial brick and wood decore which makes it really comfortable. There is an open space at the back with seating for avoit 10 people. The food was good. The vegan breakfast was big, and tasty; however, the spicy shakshuca was really spicy (for me) and I could not taste anything exept the heat, and only one slice of toas (which was tasty). I would say the price was great for vegan breakfast, but the shakshuka was not worth it at all, regardles of the spice.

Delicious food, even without breaking the yolk you can see how deep the colour is, the service was also incredibly friendly and welcoming. If you're going on the weekend I would definitely reccomend booking as it was very busy when we were there. Goes without saying really but the coffee was also excellent as well as being of a larger size (closer in quantity to the usual chain coffee stores than some of the independent coffee shops), and I would definitely reccomend it - even if you don't want to eat in there's a window near the entrance for you to order things to take away
