As an exhibitor at events we get to compare a lot of coffee offers at different venues. I have to say Costa are now officially our worst. The coffee was too weak and milky and lukewarm. Worse, their croissants tasted stale and and had the foamy bubbles of bread inside rather than flaky pastry, yet they are very expensive at ÂŁ2.65. They had also quietly withdrawn their discount for customers using their own cups, now that the greenwash publicity train had moved on after COP26. The service is very slow (queue 5 minutes to pay then wait 10-15 minutes for the drink at 9.30am on a Thursday) The barista was quite knowledgeable about their new signature latte (which is the same beans but made differently) so one star for him. There were 3 people behind the counter and there was no clear communication. It was shambolic. They closed off half of the sitting area with chairs that had no sign, which look like a child has placed the chair together. Everyone was scattered around which looked like it was open.
