I’ve been visiting CBJ since the late spring of 2021 (remember those COVID times kids??) and I have seen the bar come from survival mode (the bar was opened in this difficult time) to in my opinion the best bar on the Bermondsey mile.
CBJ - Craft Beer Junction, by definition sells craft. You won’t find any Stella or Fosters here.
But where CBJ also excels is with its selection of the most amazing brews from some of Tampa’s best breweries (yes, you read that right, Tampa craft beer, in London!), the likes of Hidden Springs Ale Works and Magnanimous Brewing make there appearances here. (You’ll even find an appearance from Corporate Ladder or Angry Chair if you are lucky).
CBJ also sports a fridge for some takeaway, and I’m pretty sure I have a few can labels in the walls..!
Such a great atmosphere in this bar, no hassle, great staff, great beer.. it’s a go to every time we are in London.
CBJ also has some stunning potato chips behind the bar to help absorb some of the beer, and there are wider food options from foodie venues locally on the mile (and it’s now officially a brewery too - CBJ...
Read moreGreat place on the Bermondsey Beer Mile - one of handful of non-breweries. Decent selection of beers (12 taps) and an Untappd Verified Venue. Interesting to see 3 Portuguese beers on tap. Would have liked to see a stout at less than 7.5% though (and, therefore, a measure of more than 2/3rds of a pint). It was busy (summertime Saturday evening) but not cripplingly so and it has a reasonable quantity of outside space. Another stop on my glacially slow pub crawl along the mile where places are opening and then closing again before I even have the chance to visit. I actually thought I'd been before - but seemingly not - so familiar did it feel. Of course, everyone is turfed inside at whatever time of the evening (maybe 22:00) but that's true of everywhere along here (and pretty much everywhere, everywhere to be...
Read moreAn interesting addition to Bermondsey. The focus here is mainly (exclusively?) on breweries from Florida, in particular breweries you don't often (ever?) see in London/the UK. The draft line-up seems to feature whatever shipment has come in recently, so on my visit the list included almost all beers from Hidden Springs, including a rather nice pastry stout, which I enjoyed. The place itself is a somewhat typical railway arch set up. The fellow on duty during my visit was friendly enough. Prices aren't bad for high-end, imported craft beer. Definitely worth poking your head in if you find...
