I’ve been to Daquise with 20 Italian friends as per usual, but this time it was for my birthday. I put my birthday present next to me under the table in a little bag and in the general mess it was stolen. When I realized it, I told the owner and we were the last ones left in the whole place, they had just finished cleaning and the staff hurried out of the place without saying anything. Unfortunately it is almost certain that it was one of the staff while cleaning as it was under the table and had a necklace inside, there were few customers besides us and there was always someone at the table, except the one time we were outside to say goodbye and leave, and the staff was cleaning. No customer would go around looking underneath the tables anyway, and grabbing a random plastic bag, especially as they are having dinner in south kensington. Besides us there were very few people, especially while we are all there. Unfortunately they don’t even have internal cameras, which means anything could happen in that place but they take no responsibility whatsoever. In all this the manager Ted was of a unique arrogance. He denied everything by refusing to cooperate and laughing at me. When I called him to ask if he had any news, he started screaming at me to overlap my voice, saying he did not care and hung up halfway through the phone call and told me not to come any more as this doesn’t change anything for him. Saying that they have no cameras and that the woman we suspect of is working there with her mother and sister, so if anything making it all even less credible on their part and easy to deny. All this to say it was an absurd and frustrating experience, especially given the emotional value of the gift. completely unreliable staff and the manager, Ted, of an...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I had a wonderful time. 🙏🤲🌃 The service at the restaurant was superb from the beginning you felt the waiters were attentive! 😚I found the place interesting. It has old photos of airline pilots on the walls which gives character to the place. I noticed that there was an eclectic mix of people from various Countries which made me feel happy and content. The food was well prepared- my boyfriend had traditional żurek soup whereas I had traditional borscht soup with dumplings. Overall I think the soups were tasty and full of flavour. I think mine was served with a hint of wine which brought out the beetroot taste in a spectacular way. I think the seconds were unbelievably gorgeous too. We had large pieces of Viener Schnitzel with potatoes served with dill on a side plate- in mashed form but in neat scoops making it pleasing to the eye and seemingly elegant. We also had a side plate of mizeria- a yoghurt and cucumber salad which complemented the meaty hearty dish best known to Poland. We had some lovely Rioja wine to go with the schab- the Viener schnitzel-it was all very lovely 🌹 I recommend it! The waiter was also able to suggest which wines were good with which options from the dinner menu. The desserts looked beautifully presented although we were so over indulged we had no more room.....the price was also very reasonable for a restaurant of such merits from the times of the Polish immigrants coming to Britain back in the seventies....based on the way the waiters were dressed and presented I expected a more...
Read moreWe have a love of south ken but never manged to get here because it’s always seemed to be closed, bad luck. We tried to book but got refused so decided to show up and voila, a seat! The waiter was somewhat rude and put out. We had mentioned we had recognised the restaurant had also featured in Ted Lasso though we know of it before. To which he said they didn’t want the “clientele”, I mentioned it had a big American market and perhaps that’s what he was referring to, unbeknownst that an American was sat next to us, with which he said, “you right!” All of a sudden. Well, I’m sorry for making the waiter for feeling uncomfortable, we just wanted to eat some food that wasn’t the usual outing. That experience aside the food was very good. I had the black pudding (which the waiter called “so called” …please stop the passive aggressive) I’m from Lancs and love black pudding. This was served as a sausage with a slow cooked apple and onion. It was akin to a mix of blood pudding and haggis but was lovely. Ever the Lancs girl though I missed the egg yolk. I had the goulash for mains and was again lovely. It can with a buckwheat which tasted a bit plasticky. I didnt care overall though and the bread was better partner anyway. The bread basket which I should mention is more like rye bread. Not a airy bread thing we have these days, a more traditional flavoursome linseed tasting offer which I prefer but might catch people out. The seeded half was amazing and felt...
