Where do I startā¦.from the moment we walked in the place just seemed a little confused. The cheap LED lights and the sound system make it feel like it should be a bar, yet there are many empty tables spread out over a strangly empty space and delivery drivers coming in and out constantly. The servers actually spent more time dealing with deliveries than even trying to take our order.
We ordered some starters first, crispy duck (which wasnāt shredded. More like deep fried cubes of duck meat), the Thai dim sum (which were clearly just shop bought dumplings and werenāt even hot, but not bad) and a miso soup. The miso soup was literally like tepid bath water with some spring onions floating in the top of it. The menu says Wakame, but none to be seen. We sent this back and the āmanagerā seemed instantly defensive
Then the mains⦠oh wow. My partner ordered some sushi, BIG mistake. The tuna and avocado roll came with the most grey and gone off piece of tuna Iāve ever seen in a restaurant. From the moment it was placed on the table you could smell the ammonia and a strong odour of spoiled fish. The salmon was not fresh either, but not as bad as the tuna. Still not something we wanted to eat after having the smell of the pungent gone off fish . We also had flies hovering around our table and the tuna roll which clearly just added insult to injury.
The āpad kraw powā is not that at all. Itās like a weird take on a black bean chicken with a really bitter sauce and dry pieces of chicken. Even the egg fried rice was strange. Somehow was translucent with the texture of fried rice puddingā¦. Not appetising in the slightest.
The only highlight of this experience was the lovely cocktails that the blonde barmaid made us, they were amazing. If weād have gone here just for a drink Iād have nothing bad to say.
Iāve never posted a review before, especially not one like this; but I canāt believe the amount of good reviews this place has. Thatās the only reason we booked to come here. Please donāt come here for the food, but come for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEnso is a Japanese, Thai restaurant that serves hot Thai dishes, Japanese dishes and Sushi. You're bound to find something you like here, the menu is quite varied and the prices are about what you would expect to pay for the type of food and the location. so its fairly priced I think. The service is very good, with the waiting staff being friendly and polite. The waiter even saved me from over ordering, as my eyes were way bigger than my stomach and I was going to town on the menu. I ended up ordering a thai duck dish, a thai squid dish and some sticky rice, so i went Thai style today. I will definitely go back and try their Japanese dishes. The duck was great! It manages to be both succulent and crispy, with a lovely tamarind sauce, sitting on a crisp, fresh salad of all types herbivorous vegetation, which while grazing is not usually my style, I ended up polishing off the entire plate! Even the cashews (which I normally flick to the side of any dish) I finished. Quality. Then the calamari Thai style, my god the calamari...... As I've said before, I always order calamari or crispy squid on a menu, as a sort of gauge of the chefs, 'quality,' so, if you get this basic staple dish wrong? You suck dude.... The chef did not suck. In fact he passed with flying colours! He passed came back around and lapped the Field. It was perfect. With a perfectly spiced crispy coating, that was not overly thick, and the ratio of chilli's and onions was just right. And as for the calamari, it was just mwah! Cooked to perfection, no hint of the almost overcooked chew, crispy to the last morsel, tasty to the last mouthful. It was on point. And the sticky rice was also good, the portion being a tad larger than the last two portions of said dish I've order in other establishments. I left that place a very satisfied fella. Decors nice too, almost forgot about that. So, in closing, Enso is thoroughly recommended, great menu options and great staff. And for the love of Poseidon,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHorrific experience. I ordered the beef mee goreng noodles, but they turned out to be incredibly salty. It felt like someone had dumped a ton of salt on them. It was overwhelming and not at all enjoyable.
I decided to send the dish back to the kitchen, hoping they would make it again as I requested. However, when it came back a few minutes later on a new plate with a fresh lime, it was clear that they hadn't actually redone it. To make matters worse, I noticed that the table next to us also had the same issue with their meal.
I sent the food back a second time, complaining about the saltiness again. The managerās response was not professional at all. Instead of addressing the issue properly, he put his fingers in the food and grabbed some noodles, as if he didn't believe me. It was quite off-putting and outright disrespectful.
Of course I didn't pay for the dish and requested that they just take it back entirely, but that left me hungry and dissatisfied. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant was not up to par either. The tables were sticky and the glasses provided were not as clean. There were bits of what looked like mould floating in my juice.
The customer service was lackluster as well. We constantly had to search for our waiter whenever we needed something, which was quite frustrating. The wait time for our orders was longer than expected, making the whole experience even more disappointing.
I wouldnāt recommend this place to my worst enemy. Wish I could give it 0 stars. There are certainly better...
