I booked this venue for a joint birthday celebration, we loved the name and website menu looked great. We had it all planned out what we were going to eat and was so excited for it. However when we got to the venue all they had was the brunch menu. It was not clear on the website that the 'all day' menu was only for the weekdays, and 4pm onwards on weekends so we were left with a limited choice and sadly for the birthday boy who had food intolerance, we struggled to find something suitable. Waiters went back and forth, back and forth with hardly any knowledge about what they have that may be suitable, and the chef were unwilling to accommodate as they had a system of brunch kitchen and all day kitchen. I cant see how difficult it can be to just get a steak or salmon out.
Anyway birthday boy ended up with a plate of foods that don't go well with each other, as well as "grilled" chicken which was not grilled at all, it was boiled and uneditable it left a nasty taste which made us feel sickly after.
We ordered a pitcher for the group of 4 but they brought in a little jug and x2 glasses for two people.
Waiter tried to remove a plate before we could finish a chicken wing.
My friend tried to order a drink and the waiter said my shift is over now. We were speechless.
The food was average. Might as well have eaten at McDonald's.
Since we were starving we ate the food, we stayed thinking it'll get better but it kept getting worse.
I appreciate when waiters saw our disappointment we were able to see that they did try their best to make it better but unfortunately it can't be helped when the kitchen is unwilling to cooperate and waiters are hesitant either due to lack of knowledge or confidence or both.
In the end the waiters sang happy birthday and gave a brownie with ice cream and candles. It was sweet of them to try and please us, we did feel a little bad. They had to deal with brunt of the underlying issues at this restaurant (but at the same time some of the waiters - the one who said his shift had ended - needs retraining).
Just the the food didn't gel well, it is clear the kitchen and the waiters were misaligned. They had to keep checking what was available, why was it on the menu...
Read moreMeh? Style over substance. Great modern design, vibe and atmosphere outside on a sunny day. But I had to order via QR code (even my drink) and my salad arrived first, meaning I had to ask two different waiters for my drink which finally came 20 mins after arriving. What I really don’t appreciate is being made to order on an app via QR code and then they add a mandatory 12.5% service charge on the bill when I go to pay! That is a liberty I’m sorry. You don’t offer any service. I guess I should be grateful I didn’t have to walk to the kitchen and get the food myself? I had a sparkling water and a Caesar salad with chicken and avocado and it came to £30.38 😂 (see app receipt photo for proof). I am by no means tight, but for the quality I was served (just about average) and lack of service that takes the p* even in London. I will give this place one more chance but they seriously need to rethink their offering and service model and allow people to remove the joke of a service charge when you’re doing the work for them. They also need to at least take your drink order when you sit down and not push you to the QR code. It’s unfriendly and a hostile welcome to say the least. It’s supposed to be a 4* hotel not a Shake Shack where you’re forced to order on a code or screen. I also had my dog with me as it says it’s pet-friendly but I had to ask two different waiters for a bowl of water for my panting dog as they forgot and never even came back outside after I asked the first time. I suggest you train your staff to assume anyone with a panting dog sitting outside on a hot day might like a water bowl for their furry friend, it’s an obvious request if you market yourself as pet-friendly (even more so if you’re forced to pay a 12.5% service charge). As those extra pre-empted touches are what would justify that fee. Has some work to do but will try again for a final opinion as I like the area, decor and the ‘potential’. Maybe next time I should just order a drink at the bar inside to reduce the risk of a...
