Shhhhh London’s Best Kept Gym Secret - Third Space Wood Wharf.
I have a secret, please don’t tell anyone… Third Space Wood Wharf is the best gym I’ve ever been to… by a country mile.
I go to the gym so much, I sometimes expect to get a cease-and-desist order! I give gym rats a bad name, as I train from 5:30am, sometimes until 9am! Crazy? I know.
So why is Wood Wharf so spectacular? Well the staff are amazing, and wrapped around the staff is a beautiful gym… finished to perfection. It’s gorgeous! Brand new helps of course but it’s just been designed so brilliantly.
The Pilates studio is stuffed full of top spec machines, I think they’re like £10k a piece… the hot Yoga studio is sublime, and the instructors are next level… I’ve never done classes before but I am now, and I’m taking what I’ve learned to the gym floor…
The gym floor viewed without an untrained eye might look small but the fact it’s open plan means you can see what everyone else is doing, and this inspires me… I was following my same routine every day because normally I’m locked into a free weights space, but at Wood Wharf I’m taking inspiration from the other people training , and their amazing PT’s of course, to be a bit more spontaneous in how I train, and it’s taking my training to the next level, like level 10!
The pool area is awesome, it’s the first steam room I’ve been in that doesn’t boil you alive, and the pool is stunning.
Would I recommend you join? Absolutely 💯 it’s not free but then you look at the investment Third Space have made in their spaces and it’s the least you can do… supporting a gym chain that produces such beautiful gyms 🙏 whilst invest in...
Read moreI can only speak to the pool and spa facilities, as I didn’t use the gym or attend any classes.
Third Space offered a calm and welcoming environment that helped me ease back into exercise after a health-related break, which I really appreciated.
The positives: the pool was rarely busy during my visits (weekdays over lunch), and I usually had a lane to myself. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the changing and shower facilities were clean and spacious. The general crowd was respectful and quiet, which added to the experience.
On the downside, the joining fee comes with credit, but you can’t use that credit toward your final membership payment. Instead, you have to spend it on branded products, which I found frustrating and a bit wasteful. I ended up with a rucksack I didn’t want, just to use up the credit.
I also found that the pool irritated my skin. While they test the water frequently, it didn’t feel gentle. I don’t normally have issues, and I haven’t experienced this at other pools like the Lido I go to now. This made it harder for me to use the facilities as much as I had hoped.
Finally, the sauna and steam room are generally well maintained, but it is common to see loungers “reserved” with towels or belongings for long periods. This meant it was often difficult to find a place to relax afterwards, even though many loungers appeared empty.
Overall, it was a mixed experience. There were things I liked, but several issues stopped me from fully...
Read moreI joined Third Space in Sept-25 and cancelled within the same month due to an unplanned relocation more than 50 miles from any club.
Third Space insisted on charging a further month’s membership fee under its “full calendar-month notice” clause.
I raised a formal consumer dispute under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (s.62) and referenced CMA37/OFT1561 guidance on health-club contracts, which state that members should be able to cancel without penalty when relocation makes use of facilities impossible. The correspondence was acknowledged by staff, yet I subsequently received emails demanding payment “within 10 days” and warning of referral to a debt-collection agency while the dispute was still active.
In my view, this handling conflicts with the spirit of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and the Administration of Justice Act 1970 (s.40), both of which restrict pursuit of alleged debts while a matter is formally contested.
The situation, still ongoing, created unnecessary stress and gave the impression that internal escalation procedures are not aligned with recognised consumer-law standards.
Potential members should read the contract carefully and be aware that Third Space applies its notice-period clause rigidly, even where relocation prevents access, and, it seems, where consumer law holds a different position. I hope the company reviews its compliance processes and adopts a fairer approach consistent with current...
