I usually go to the Gail’s Blackheath branch to take my daughter for our usual Friday treat. The service there is excellent. Unfortunately I can not say the same for the Greenwich Gail’s branch. I went into the store between the hours of 3-4pm on my day off. I was the only person of colour in the queue but being the secure person I am it didn’t bother me but what I found very unprofessional/unpleasant was in fact was the discriminatory behaviour that the European male with black hair who served me exhibited. He looked me and down before deciding if he should give me the squashed slightly burnt cinnamon bun stuck to the bottom of the tray or a fresh non burnt bun which was more conveniently placed at the top for easy selection. Instead his discriminatory mind told him to go out of his way to dig the burnt cinnamon bun which he had to fight with to get it off the tray squashing it in the bun in the process. He felt that was the bun he would serve me. I observed and challenged the server to change the bun for a nicely placed bun at the top which the till server handed back to him to change. Read moreSo this morning my husband took me to Gail’s Bakery near the Cutty Sark/Greenwich. My first visit was to the branch in Brighton so I had high expectations. You guys did not let me down. It was easy to park around the corner. Used my Blue Badge. It wasn’t really busy busy, so we managed to get a seat by the door where the bakery section and ovens were. Managed to walk in with my walking sticks and had a few steps to challenge but found that fine. Food is to die for. All baked on site. And we got talking to a member of staff called Craig. What a really lovely guy. We just chatted about the shop and life in general as he worked away very hard. And I could not finish the day by not putting a review up. I have recently become quite housebound and the odd day out to a coffee shop to sit by the window and watch the world go by and have a chat with people makes my day. I really look forward to coming back to see you guys and have a treat there. Thank you for always making my visit worth while. Love your store sooo much and find the prices very, very reasonable, atmosphere is fantastic and really friendly. And your goods well 😋😋😋 Your staff are excellent. Do what you do and don’t change it because you will find that you will become bigger and better than your bog standard...
