🙂🌺Gail's Bakery Neo Bankside is on our morning walk path and we had always wondered and looked for an opportunity to visit this upper market looking bakery with a lot hot yummy,yummy. We then dropped in one day and ordered a toastie,tomato soup, a cookie,and a flat white from the overhead board.
🙂We sat down at a table,the interior was spacious open air kitchen and had a good view outside through glass shop front.
🙃But the foods were not matching this open air interior architecture;
👺The tomato soup tasted not any better than those prepacked powder ones that you just add hot water in a cup. It was served with a slice of artisan bread that I could not put my teeth through.
The toastie Reuben sounded very posh I tought I'd get a sizling yummy for £8.50, it took ages to be served at our table and turned out to be again very poor looking with post stamp size side salad and a sauce,perhaps we could've been better off with a couple of slice of brown toasts with some butter on them.
The flat white,my wife wanted coconut flat white but had to comprise on a soya flat white as she doesn't take dairy milk. It was also disappointing too she didn't enjoy it neither the cookie that was not any better than those you fetch off the shelf.
🙂🌺Nevertheless,thanks for the management for refunding the bill and apologised from us for our bad...
Read moreEdit: After a couple of extra visits I dropped my score. The consistency and satisfactory service is not always there. Twice I received very overcooked solid pale yellow yolks in 'soft' baked eggs, was also charged twice for an item and had to correct that. Their almond chocolate croissants are consistently great though! I would probably just recommend visiting another branch.
Great like every Gail's! This shop seems more geared towards sitting in for coffee and pastries rather than typical mainly bakery/ patisserie Gail's. But it is of no difference to me. The dark sourdough bread I got was still amazing as always and definitely fresh with crispy crust and fluffy inside. From pastries for first timers I would recommend almond chocolate croissant and a showstopper that is a Belgian chocolate and cherry bun. Its crumbly flaky perfection that is typically gone by midday , cause its so good! I tried a couple of coffees there , nothing to write home about , but paired with the pastry selection it will do. When eating in I also tried the two varieties of baked eggs and I would definitely get the lebneh, tomato and red pepper ones again. Runny yolks, crispy, cheesy top and flaky salt. Service was cheery and helpful in making choices too, keep in mind you might have to wait a bit to be served on weekends and lunchtimes, but...
Read moreWe visited this cafe this morning at 10.10 am and were hoping to have a breakfast that would cater for vegans. However nothing but some salads were on offer for Breakfast!! I then asked if there was sourdough bread toast for breakfast which wasn't even offered as an alternative, we needed to ask for it. The staff member said yes and didn't even bother asking what we wanted on our toast and served us butter! When I asked for margarine or a vegan butter, the answer was no. When I asked if I could give some feedback about this, she said she had already asked for margarine availability previously. So this is why I am taking precious time out of my Bank Holiday Monday to put this feedback in writing. Also tables were filthy and when I approached someone who was seemingly cleaning tables if she could kindly come and do ours, she took her time even though we said we already had our coffees ready to put on the table. Absolutely appalling customer service!! Absolutely no interest in customers experience. As many, we will vote with our feet, but as a business minded person I've taken the time to offer you feedback. Many will just vote with their feet without bothering, which I don't blame them as you have a lot of competition everywhere. But we will certainly not recommend or return to...
