I’m a disabled wheelchair user and visited Golden Buffet in High Cross Street in Tottenham Hale with two carers and a friend. Despite having a ramp available (I’ve used it before on previous visits), the female owner refused to bring it out, saying it was too heavy—even though there were two male staff members present. She then told us outright “I don’t want you here, go to the restaurant next door where they have African food,” referring to my black carers and black friend. This was shocking and felt both racially and disability motivated.
We had to improvise with a piece of metal found nearby to get inside. Once seated, I discovered I couldn’t access the buffet due to an internal step—again, no accommodation made. We were then told we had to pay for everything upfront (unusual), and when I wanted one more drink after the meal, she said there was a £10 minimum card spend, in a cynical ploy to get me to spend more money after being forced to pay up front for our meals.
I’ve never felt so unwelcome or dehumanised. If you’re disabled or black and care about equal treatment,...
Read moreWent here last night with a group of friends. Not a huge amount to choose from, only 1 vegetable dish on offer (not very well cooked broccoli). All the sweet and sour dishes were very watery. Very stingy on the duck and there was no cucumber/spring onions available. All the pancakes cakes out of a packet which a staff member brought out and put in the basket directly from the packet, and I had to ask for more when there hadn’t been some there for a good 20 minutes. The curry sauce again was watery and overall it just wasn’t very flavourful. Chow mein was pretty bland, but the rice was OK. Service is not very good. They don’t tell you you need to pay before you eat, they just tell you when you’ve already gone up to grt your first plate then it all gets a bit confusing. £10 minimum spend on card which is a bit laughable since it is a £7.99 buffet and a can of diet coke is less than the £2.01 you need to get to the £10 mark so I had to get 2 (which I didn’t need). Didn’t get a glass for my drink either. Lots of little things which would just make the whope experience...
Read moreLocated near Tottenham Hale, within a community. This Chinese buffet restaurant looks hidden, but for £9.80 per person for lunch, not bad at all.
Once you enter, the buffet cart is on your right hand side, you are asked to pay up front, drinks were relatively cheap too.
The food is regularly topped up, freshed cooked, satay chicken, restricted to four per person. Chilli and salt king prawns, shredded chilli chicken, stir fry broccoli, sweet corn soup, chicken noodle soup, mini spring rolls, chips, chicken wings, Singapore noodles, egg fried rice, chow mein, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, chicken balls, chicken and black bean sauce, vanilla ice cream, swiss rolls, orange pieces and much more.
It was busy especially with the takeaway boxes during mid week.
There is a disabled toilet but please note, there is a step in the middle of the restaurant.
Overall it was a decent lunch.
