Gourmet Sushi is one of the most consistently excellent, affordable sushi places in London.
I frequently order delivery from Gourmet Sushi, and it’s my first time visiting them in-person. The place itself is very nice, with wood and leaf accents, but the lighting is quite harsh and industrial (so it’s not ideal for dates). The tables at one side of the restaurant are quite crammed, with an inch or two between them; this gives plenty of seating options but it might feel claustrophobic during peak hours. Regardless, the lady at the cashier was super friendly!
The amount of sashimi in both the rolls and on the nigiri is always good and the rice is firm enough to keep its shape but is not too cold. The portions are generous and the food is tasty. My favorite is the Salmon Lush box (creamy avocado with thick, luscious salmon), although the amount of fish in the maki rolls can be a little inconsistent. Read moreToday had the pleasure of dining at this sushi shop, and I must say it was an exceptional experience, thanks in large part to the brilliant chef, Sharmin. 👍Her dedication to her craft and attention to detail truly elevate the dining experience to another level.
The Sushi was incredibly fresh, with every piece practically melting in my mouth. The Salmon Sashimi was perfection👌so tender and rich that it felt like a burst of the ocean with every bite.
The Dragon Roll was a masterpiece, both in taste and presentation. ❤️
The Salmon and Avocado Temaki Handroll was another highlight. It was generously filled, The Mini Gourmet Box was beautifully curated, Even the non-sushi items like the Chicken Katsu were outstanding
Overall, Chef Sharmin's artistry and passion shine through in every dish. Whether you're a sushi connoisseur or new to Japanese cuisine, this is the place to go. Highly...
Read moreGreat until it wasn’t. I’ve ordered from there about 12 times. One of the order was slightly unfresh but the rest were excellent, until today when I had a bad experience. They left, hidden inside the roll, loads of hard brown bits which should always be removed when serving raw salmon. It’s annoying as once again, an affordable-ish central London sushi restaurant cannot provide quality raw fish consistently. Just like all the sushi restaurants in soho.
UPDATE: a year later I tried again for the first time since my review. This time there’s blood on my salmon nigiri. It’s really off putting when...
