Sat down with a pint in the Landor and, having taken a few sips, realised that I'd been given a dirty glass with small bugs at the bottom and floating around. I queued patiently at the bar and when served explained to the staff member that I'd been given a dirty glass and whether he could pour me another - a reasonable request I thought. He inspected the glass for some time asking me what was wrong as he couldn't see the issue in the poor light by the bar. He then proceeded to pour the pint into a different glass, I explained that this wouldn't solve the issue (for obvious reasons) to which he again inspected the pint and discussed with his colleague that he couldn't see the problem. Eventually he retrieved another glass and poured a replacement pint. On finishing the pour he then began clumsily emptying a few sips worth to try and match the original drink. I thought this very petty and quite comical - why not just pour it to the required height in the first place instead of clumsily emptying into a separate glass, spilling all over his hands? I feel that what should have been a very straight forward and reasonable request from a paying customer should have been handled in a much more professional way. From the limited amount I'd drank, and fact that I'd queued patiently at a busy bar to request a replacement, it should be clear that there's a genuine problem which should have been fixed without hesitation rather than make your customers feel as though they're...
Read moreWe brought our dog to this ostensibly dog friendly pub and had quite an odd time, ultimately ending up with some needless aggression from a member of staff. To start with, the pub says it's dog friendly - sounds good. Then after a while at the pub we were told dogs have to leave at 8pm - disappointing as there was no indication of this anywhere we could see, and it would mean leaving in the middle of a close friend's birthday party. But we were prepared to leave it necessary and if that had been the end of it it would not have been a big deal. However, a member of staff then told us, don't worry, you and your dog can stay - great, we thought! Then a different member of staff came to our table and told us, quite aggressively, to leave immediately. We explained that his colleague had said we could stay but that made no difference. Most worryingly, as we were getting up to leave and he was hassling us to get out immediately, I said we would leave as soon as my wife had picked up her coat - this which the response was "no, the dog has to leave now, I'm not playing". This was not just rude but genuinely threatening. It is one thing to have a policy that dogs must leave at a certain time. It is quite another to be rude and aggressive to customers, especially those who have been told expressly and in terms that they can stay. Obviously I will not return and would advise you not to do so unless you are happy to be treated...
Read moreVery disappointing experience – would not return
We had a reservation at this pub on 10 May to celebrate my birthday. We spent a significant amount that evening, but unfortunately the experience was ruined by the behaviour of the staff. At one point, we stepped outside to help one of our guests get an Uber, and upon returning, the security guard refused to let my mother back in. She was not excessively drunk – no more than anyone else enjoying a night out at the pub – and yet we, the hosts of the celebration, were left outside while our guests remained inside. We did not return to the party, which was incredibly embarrassing and upsetting. To make matters worse, one of the bar staff looked visibly disgusted every time we approached the bar, which made us feel very unwelcome. In my 17 years living in London and regularly visiting pubs, this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. I’ve already sent an email and received only a minimal reply, with no real resolution or apology. If you’re considering visiting this place, I would strongly recommend choosing another venue that prioritises customer care and...
