Joseph’s is one of those gems that I kid you not will have you feel like you are eating fish and chips from the seaside! It’s inviting, greeted with a smile you will find a hardworking team of three with the warmest cleanest minimal but stylish environment, when I say clean we are talking as clean as a hospital surgical theatre. Ebs and Joseph junior the entire team are not only friendly and hardworking but get your order perfect every time, even down to the salt and vinegar they dress over your order. I have to recommend the home made fish cake; you will not have had one like it! Please trust my recommendations along with all the fish the batter is to die for; the most indulgent pies from Mypie which is one of the best quality pies one will find, finally the calamari is also exquisite. Joseph’s is not your average fish and chip shop - considering the quality one would think by the sea as the prices are not extortionate to me averaging most fish and chip shops locally but honestly I cannot recommend enough. This has been the missing thing on Tower Bridge road and what I will say is this place is as popular as Tower Bridge itself! Joseph’s are newly opened and if I have not persuaded you by end of this review just go for yourself it’s between Greggs and the West Indian food shop on Tower Bridge road SE1. Could not meet a nicer business with the greatest produce cooked with care imho. Quick note the condiments like tartare sauce and tomato ketchup some may find pricey but I found everywhere that this has been the case these suppliers charges are inflated as yesterdays price is not todays price. Enjoy this great new addition to SE1/SE16 best fish and...
Read moreJoseph’s Fish and Chip Shop is a true gem for anyone craving traditional British comfort food. Nestled in a quaint corner of town, this unassuming spot offers some of the best fish and chips you’ll find in the area. The shop has a classic, no-frills vibe, with a focus on delivering hearty, satisfying meals rather than fancy decor.
The star of the show is, of course, the fish and chips. The fish is consistently fresh, with a light, golden batter that’s perfectly crispy on the outside while keeping the fish moist and flaky inside. Whether you go for cod, haddock, or another option, you can expect quality. The chips are thick-cut, hot, and fluffy on the inside, just as they should be. Portions are generous, so you definitely get your money’s worth.
In addition to the fish and chips, Joseph’s offers a range of other traditional items like mushy peas, battered sausages, and homemade tartar sauce, all of which complement the main dish nicely. The service is friendly and efficient, making it easy to pop in and grab a quick meal or sit down and enjoy your food right there.
What makes Joseph’s stand out is their commitment to quality. The food is always cooked to order, ensuring it’s fresh and piping hot when you get it. The staff clearly care about maintaining high standards, and it shows in every bite.
Overall, Joseph’s Fish and Chip Shop is a must-visit for anyone who loves classic fish and chips done right. It’s a place where tradition meets quality, and where you can always count on a delicious,...
Read moreI visited this lovely little chippie today for their opening and it was simply amazing!!! I really love fish and chips and I’m always on the look-out for good quality chippie. Sure, there are plenty of chippies in Bermondsey but they never quite hit the mark… the fish is either too dry or too oily, portion sizes pitiful, or quality is just not consistent. This wasn’t the case with Joseph’s. I ordered the cod and chips and mushy peas to take away. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the batter was crispy, fluffy, and amazing yumminess. I’ve not had fish cooked this well for a while. Exceptional. I also really liked the addition of the tartare sauce, pickled red onions, and wedge of lemon with the meal - a nice touch. You may think it’s only fish and chips, but as noted above, so many places just get it wrong. Portions sizes were very generous, and even though they sell one size of fish (the fat kid inside had a bit of a panic), this was more than adequate for a very hungry eater. I ordered an extra portion of chips ‘just in case’ and they certainly were not needed. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. There is seating should you want to eat in. As you can tell, I thoroughly enjoyed this meal and will certainly be returning as a regular customer. Congratulations to the team and welcome...
